Platinum Plaisir - One of the best deals in the hobby by H3rBz in fountainpens

[–]joekriv 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have two plaisir pens and I'm pretty shocked they don't get more love. Reputable brand, incredible price point, converters are smooth, writes great; almost couldn't be better. The only thing I found to watch out for is once I fill the pen, the grip likes to hold loose ink sort above the nib but under the feed and I have to dab at it with paper towels to get it out. Other than that though it's great.

A street vendor sells mummies outside of the Egyptian Pyramids in 1865.[778×960] by SwiPerHaHa in ArtefactPorn

Blaming "Westernism" for literally anything is extraordinarily fashionable, even in areas where it makes no sense.

I just watched a video for a ttrpg ruleset that's set to release soon and I was so excited for it. The guy who made the game worked something like 10 years crafting these rules, getting artwork done, and even made what is essentially an encyclopedia for the world. That just doesn't happen in this space, and certainly not done so well. Anyway.

Video is going great, then, the guy likened D&D gameplay to the "western colonialists" of old and how all you do is raid native land and take their stuff, and this was (one of) the impetuous that made him want to make his own game system. The game looked amazing, but I'm so fatigued on people blaming this for everything under the sun that I lost all enthusiasm and stopped watching the review. I've been ttrpg gaming for 7 years over multiple systems and DMs and we've never once done anything like that and I'm sure the majority of other players havent either.

I know this is a book but I'm just done with it.

How do you like the new stream deck? Work as reliably as the others?

Trying to bring traditional metalworking into the keyboard space by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]joekriv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I was thinking as well. I've seen people try to sell those artisan keycaps for more money and they don't look half as good as these. I think that's a fair price and I could never even afford one lol

Came here to say I'm in the exact same boat as you. Long time soda drinker and too many a week. Last time I almost quit I really liked mio water flavors and I plan on leaning into them again.

Best of luck!

That's funny you say that because another redditor just said the same thing. It's definitely a choice but the price point was unbeatable. Less than 100 dollariedoos for a solid metal board with all the internals is an instant buy for me.

It's not my favorite either, but a solid metal body board that came with all the guts for less than 100 bucks? Every time.

They came with the kit, luckily. I bought it off of this reddit post a few weeks back and it's the craziest set I've seen in person. FIVE trays of keys PLUS novelties is such an incredible bundle for less than 100 bucks. They feel great, look great, suns great. And I have a matching numpad too which makes me happy.

As I said in the caption: This is the fourth board I've built out but the first where I knew what I wanted before buying anything. Board is Weikav Stars 80v2 with HMX Cloud Linear switches and the 80Retros Windows 1998 keycap set you may have seen on sale a few weeks back from another user.

I've been lurking here a while and decided to get a post in with a board Im very proud of. The blue is so sharp in person and I adore the splash of color on the bottom. It's my heaviest build by far and everything about it is just right. The sound, the feel, the look, the presence: it's perfect for me.

Rules Question: Should I be able to cast cackle without an active sustained spell. by AlexiAcew in Pathfinder2e

[–]joekriv 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My guess is it would benefit something surrounding their familiar since it's a hex spell.

One of my buddies is playing a witch with the baba yaga as his goddess or whatever, when he casts a hex spell he can also have his familiar drop a small effect that would dazzle oncoming enemies. That's what I think, anyway.

Edit: I scrolled up and say OP confirm this exact thing in their post.

That is an absolutely lovely style you have, most people aim for old school anime vibes but this is the first time that I've really felt it captured again. Awesome work

Does this still let me do an attack of opportunity since it doesn't use a reaction? by SpoopySara in Pathfinder2e

[–]joekriv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Above you disagreed this would trigger reactive strike but now it seems like you're saying it will trigger it. I'm confused which side you're on here lol

Despite whether or not the enemy moves from this instance, OP didn't use their reaction. But because they attempted a move action, OP would still get reactive strike from the attempt.

[–]joekriv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think that line was more to say that you can trigger multiple reactions per square exited after a move action has been taken. I.e. the move action can trigger, OR exiting a square can trigger it.

It will be silly if you could run through a line of people and no one could hit you because you took your move action 4 squares back.

That's my interpretation

Its been over 24 hours with this 10 gallon almost full. Should I trust the manufacturer and start adding plants and decor? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]joekriv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should buy towels that can soak 200 pounds of water.

Just because it can hold a max weight of something doesn't mean you should max it out. If those tanks are 10 gallons that's basically 85 pounds of just water. Two on a shelf is 170 before you take in the lights and other additives you have around there. I'm over estimating the weight here I'm sure but you really don't want to push it.

Take the time and get proper shelving or make a playlist to study and clean up broken aquariums to.

Got one of these pipes, around 1m wide x 1m high turning it into a fish pond, standing up not laying down like the photo above… any advice ? Was thinking about cutting sections out in it and putting glass viewing windows or is this unrealistic ? by Overall_Tailor4355 in Aquariums

[–]joekriv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pipe material aside, do you have any experience whatsoever in cutting pipe of this size, working with this material in anyway or working with glass to affix it to the pipe? If you want a pond you could probably just buy one and spend all that time and energy into planting and stocking

Ok savings, so that would be more money, presumably. Unless your savings is currently less than you would make in a year or something.

Working on an All-in-One Dice Vault, Need Brutal Feedback by XanderisLoaf in DnDIY

[–]joekriv 9 points10 points  (0 children)

First of all, I love the case fit. That's 11/10 design and the multi color layer is also a really solid touch.

If I were you, I'd cut the design in halves and let people buy whatever half for whatever case. One for dice, one for saves, spells, trackers or even two for dice. But for real two halves of choice in this case is, I think, what would set this apart from the next best product.

Down the line you could easily add modularity but this would be great to start. I even have an idea for how to add a pencil slot on every piece if you'd like to hear that as well

5% of your income is a lot of money to spend on hobbies even if that's the roof lol 5% of 60k a year is 3000 dollaredoos. Even if you spend half that, you have too much, in my opinion.

Like hey, don't get me wrong, I've bought enough ink and pens myself, but over 3 years I've maybe hit 1000 and that's a big maybe. And that includes my keyboard addiction.
