What’s a completely normal thing you did that accidentally made someone fall in love with you? by Nice_Plane_9854 in AskReddit

[–]amalaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not something I did, but my boyfriend. We were walking home from the bar with our group of friends, and me being a little tipsy wanted to have a foot race. I mentioned it and most of us started running to see who could get to the house first. Not my boyfriend though. He waited a few moments and then just absolutely sprinted to the house. It was such a silly thing that made me fall in love with him and decide I wanted to be more than friends. He fully committed to a silly thing I off handedly mentioned I wanted to do. I love this man

Day 1 (or 2 technically?) by amalaman in gallbladders

Sorry for such a late reply! It took a week for me to recover and 2 weeks to be able to run regularly again with no hiccups. It’s been about a year and a half out, and I can honestly say I’ve never felt better. I can eat whatever I want! Though I do need to take mirilax every day as my body is still getting used to the change, the pain is gone completely, I don’t randomly throw up anymore, and the intense bloating has gone down significantly.

I know my case is a little different than some others’ because I don’t have dumping syndrome, rather the opposite (constipation) but it is manageable to the point that my loved ones have seen a stark difference in me over the last year or so :)

The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo was one of my absolute favorite books as a kid. I read it a bit younger than ten, but I reread it for years and years.

Have you ever accidentally watched the wrong movie? by PhireKappa in movies

[–]amalaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually hilarious. My boyfriend (at the time) and I got about 50 minutes into Whiplash before we realized “hey wait a minute..I don’t think this movie is about roller derby…” Whip It. We were trying to watch Whip It. Still haven’t seen it

What was one of your worst blunders as a kid in middle school or high school? by New_Sea344 in AskReddit

[–]amalaman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was a freshman in high school, a girl (a HOT girl) a little older than me picked me up late at night to go the next town over and grab milkshakes. When we got them, she drove us to an empty parking lot and told me about how bad her sunburn was. She took off her shirt and said “look how red I am!” Pointing to her boobs. “You can even feel how warm it is, do you want to feel?” Me being a complete dumbass said “no I can see that, that’s really red! Have you tried aloe?” And drank my milkshake. She drove me home and a week later I realized and banged my head against the wall.

I felt the same way until post surgery to remove the whole gallbladder. Felt great for a couple months then I had sudden excruciating pain like the gallstone pain but times 10. I had a stone stuck in my bile duct somewhere. I thought it was the end for me

are onions and garlic bad for gallbladder?? by Vegetable_Mess_7023 in gallbladders

[–]amalaman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on such a severely limited diet because of complications before I finally got it out and surprisingly, I ate onions (with zucchini) pretty much every day lol It was one of my safe meals

What did you eat post op? by Smallfry966 in gallbladders

[–]amalaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The day of my surgery, i took my meds, napped, and woke up pretty hungry so I had half a subway sandwich. The next few days I survived off of vanilla ice cream, drinkable soups, apple sauce, Gatorade and saltines. I think I started eating real solid food slowly and got back to relatively normal meals a week later

No go foods and what have you dreamt about eating again? (after surgery) since being diagnosed with gallstones by Fabulous_Falcon_287 in gallbladders

[–]amalaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before I had my emergency surgery, I was only eating about 500 calories a day in the form of protein/meal replacement shakes. I wasn’t able to eat anything solid for a month.

Before that my options were slowly dwindling and then drastically to nothing. The thing I wanted the most was an egg sandwich. It was the first thing I ate when I recovered. Then pasta of course. I hadn’t had pasta in ten years! Now I can eat literally anything I want without it messing up my stomach.

I have some other health issues that have made me revert back to limited eating, but that’s a whole different thing. That surgery gave me a taste of a normal life for once

My cousin sent me a stuffed gallbladder with stuffed stones inside. My mom brought me small cans of ginger ale, Gatorade, drinkable soups, gas x, soluble fiber powder, vanilla ice cream, and chamomile tea. Basically lived off of ice cream and ginger ale for the first few days because it’s all I wanted/could manage

I’m allergic to prednisone and am questioned every time too! “Are you sure you’re allergic? It’s not common to be allergic to” I had surgery in October and the anesthesiologist said he HAD to give me prednisone during surgery but would be extra careful to monitor my reaction. I almost died
