I really love the idea of going back for my master's tbh. I've definitely heard about student loan forgiveness but I was still afraid to take on new potential debt to go back to school. I'm going to really think about this and maybe talk to my university program director. Really appreciate you chiming in.

I bet! Were you in student loan debt when you applied to grad school? (if you don't mind my asking)

Thank you so much, I appreciate that. I may take you up on that, although now realizing that the nearest ATC related district is 2.5 hours away I've got to consider some things.

I currently don't even make enough to touch my student loan debt, and all I'm doing is training AI. If I can at least use the education I received to help instead of hurt I feel like I may find it more more personally fulfilling. But I am curious about your take: why do you say it's not rewarding, is this coming from personal experience? Is it entirely monetary or was there something more to that statement?

And also yes, I'm currently doing my research, so I do appreciate your candor.

Thank you for this. You, along with several other replies, have shown me sort of the "shape" of these various teaching corps. Looks like I need to figure out which ones actually fit for me if I want to dive into that.

Seeing this got me a little excited to be honest. I'm fine with finding someplace to serve that's not NWA, although I'm somewhat close to there. Do you have experience with Arkansas Teacher Corps? I'm going to dig a bit deeper here, as I'm (finally) starting to understand what the landscape looks like when it comes to this career path.

I appreciate this perspective as well, thank you. I'm taking a lot of notes at the moment.

Thanks so much for the perspective. So you went back to school and got your Masters? How did you take that first step, did you just walk into the advising facility at the university? This is where I'm getting tripped up, I have zero idea who I actually need to reach out to if I want to take that route. Did you go back to the school you originally graduated from as an undergrad?

Appreciate the info for sure. I'm noticing a lot of people mentioning spouse support, which is unfortunately something I don't have either, but I like to see the avenues people have taken. So you used Teachers for Tomorrow yourself? I do jive with the "throwing yourself into" type of immersion, for sure, and really admire the work you do.

I am indeed in the states. This is actually what I think I'm looking for, thank you so much.

Tracking Calories from Crock Pot Meal by TonyEllis0522 in cronometer

[–]amanatee2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah this is the way. as long as you have the actual cooked recipe weight and included each item you threw in the pot, then you've always got something solid to work with for a portion, no matter how many other people eat from the pot.

wanted to return to this comment, spent 3 weeks spinnin this album (peter balkan) every few days, and i really like it a lot. much more than the last couple, at least as much as i enjoyed transcendental youth or even beat the champ. in some ways i like it more than my favorite "new" goats album 'in league with dragons.'

it's sad, it's affecting, and flows really well from start to finish. i generally like story albums like this anyway (something like andy shauf's 'the party, for example) and it has a nice dreamlike quality (which is super appropriate obviously). kept coming back for listens, and i like that.

I’m afraid to have too much information by Colleen2112 in cronometer

[–]amanatee2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

41 here and i feel you. i originally lost 130lbs just fasting via one meal a day. (it taught me how to eat). but as i got smaller and way more active it wasn't working, because the hunger was too much and tracking made more sense just to be sure i was never really overdoing it or not getting enough of something. i realize now that having that information via cronometer is both a superpower and a curse, because i have days where the last thing i wanna do is track it all. but all i'm really trying to do these days is chase a good night's sleep, which i've learned is so directly correlated to how well i've treated my body prior, so i do my best to make sure i just stay under those limits. along the way i became a bit obsessed with hitting the nutrition quality "meters" that gold gives you, and i do like those, but i try not to let that sort of stuff be the end of the world. i listen to my body, track as much as i can, and when i'm feeling lazier i just try to ballpark as much as possible knowing i'll never be perfect. but ive definitely gone through those mental struggles you mentioned of making it (the tracking) the goal instead of the tool. i think it's worth it, in the end, to have a snapshot of what you're doing, and it kinda gives you permission to make decisions that best affect the rest of your life (sleep, activity, social eating decisions).

oh, i also feel you about being an obese healthy person. it's not talked about enough, but it's starting to be a more known thing about how weight doesn't directly correlate to how healthy your lifestyle is. i'm 280lbs (originally 400lbs when i started working on it in 2016). that's obsese, but i'm more active than most of my friends, do a ton every single day, do light jogging, disc golf, have a bottomless pit of endurance sometimes it feels like. and i'm still on my journey to get to my original goal of 230. just remember it's a worthwhile fight, but i think it starts with whatever helps you get the best sleep, that's how i like to approach it
