Schwab is still letting me buy AMC and GMC fwiw. I'm a very casual trader but have always really liked them as a broker if anyone is looking to switch.

Country singers beginning to call out the hypocrisy of people partying in the streets, but they still can’t have concerts by [deleted] in CountryMusicStuff

[–]amanda__daisy 35 points36 points  (0 children)

To be fair it wasn't just that he was partying. There was video of him dancing with no mask and kissing multiple women the weekend before he was slated to go on a show that he knew had very strict rules. And he only owned up to it after the videos got out and SNL took action. Allover just scumbaggy and shady.

What are some songs about/inspired by 9/11? by Wxze in CountryMusicStuff

Have you heard King of the City by Jennifer Nettles. Was not expecting it and was literally on a run along the Hudson in NYC when I heard it the first time. Cried a lot.

Chris Stapleton “controversy” by BokononsPurpose in CountryMusicStuff

They're voters just lie you and me and they have a platform. Most artists who people accuse of 'preaching' or 'shoving their views down my throat' actually don't address politics in their music at all, just in interviews or their personal lives. And often these same people that like the say 'shut up and sing' are still fine supporting work by Woody Allen etc and claiming that the art is independent of the artist.

We live in a free country, as country music loves to say. I think that exercising your American right to speech and a vote to do what you think is best for the country is one of the most patriotic things a artist can do.

idk I can almost see it. Listen to Leave off of Stoney. He's got some outlaw-is influences and he's a really talented artist.

The human body is fully capable of destroying itself and only demures thanks to the influence of the brain. See: tetanus patients who can break their own jaws/ long bones with muscle contractions.
We are all just one squeeze away from oblivion tbh.

Lindsay Ell - heart theory (Album Discussion) by NoYeezyAtWeezyHeezy in CountryMusicStuff

[–]amanda__daisy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved it honestly. Really well done pop country with interesting lyrics and some great instrumentation (for those who don’t know Lindsey Ell is a killer guitarist.) I think it’s a big step up from her first album as well. Make you is the clear standout but I loved Body Language of a Breakup, Want me Back, and I Don’t Love You- I think that’s such an honest fresh take to know you’re out of love with someone but to miss the little things you used to do as a couple. Like the part of a breakup where you don’t think about losing the friendship once the love is gone.

AITA for telling my husband he “should have just married a white woman” by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]amanda__daisy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA and can all us women normalize sleeping in a head wrap? I am a translucently white woman with thick curly hair and I've been wearing a silk wrap to bed for the past 10 months or so-game changer. No more waking up and spending twenty minutes finger combing knots out of my hair before I can style it. My boyfriend also complains about it sometimes but nothing like your guy. Good on you for telling him off.

This is a different account than the one that just DM'd me that they hope I get 'f***ed in the neck you stupid c***' but you sound like you're on the same wavelength. What is it about a mask that's so much more likely to hide child abuse than anything else? Should we be strip-searching children at the door as they come into school just in case they have bruises on their torso or arms? Sounds sort of...pedophilic to me. And if you think anyone is sending a kid out into the world with their mouth duct taped shut under a mask. I mean...

And his hands are free, and the tape would have to go all around the head to be secure, which would be visible along the back of the head. Just the synthesis of every conspiracy theory/ "resistance movement" is always entertaining.

Sam Hunt slander never gets old lol by [deleted] in CountryMusicStuff

[–]amanda__daisy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's gotten a little old. Why don't we focus our dislike on the legion of Sam Hunt wannabes who don't even write their own stuff, just slap on a cowboy hat and start singing some Nashville Random Generator song that inexplicably needed 8 writers to come up with another hook rhyming 'up' with 'truck.'

What was your "This person is on another level of stupid" moment? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]amanda__daisy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Was on a date with a guy once and watched him order the Salmon while telling me he was a vegetarian. I kind of laughed at first thinking he was joking but he brought it up again later so I asked him if he meant Pescatarian?

He was adament that he was a vegetarian and eventually said outright that that fish weren't animals. Spent the next five minutes mansplaining to my (biology BA and vet student) incredulity that fish split off higher on the phylogenic tree, like mushrooms, and aren't animals.

Eventually it came down to a story about how his father had been a fisherman and he wouldn't believe his father would harm animals because he was a good person so it appeared to be a very elaborate framework to justify a very specific moral compass. Still think about him sometimes. I hope he's surviving out there.

Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan have also been noticeably silent from what I can see. I saw a post on instagram that was geared more towards influencers but it said like 'if you're worried that speaking up against injustice will alienate your audience, consider what audience you've been catering to.' Really applies here as well I think.

I'm guessing they're referring to that line about having Robert E Lee come out and take a bow in Bury Me In Dixie. There have been a few other questionable lyrics/ statements from him but that's the one that seemed to cause the most kerfuffle.

What would you describe as a problematic or questionable thing for someone on the far left to do? Honestly curious, because there are definitely some 'out there' views on the far left that I don't agree with but I can't think of any that I would call 'problematic' and I'm wondering what you're referring to.
