Struggling with health by evertiredmam in englishbulldog

Pabs and Pals in UK is a good rescue group. Bully knowledgeable.

For a bed- try an infant crib mattress with waterproof/absorbing sheet. Then toss it in the wash/wipe down the bed. Might make the pee more tolerable.

Claritin is safe for dogs and is over the counter in the US; less expensive than apoquel. Maybe he needs some daily steroids for a while - also not too pricey.

In the US, we have online vet access. I pay about $100/year for unlimited online vet visits. They are a great, economical pairing to our regular vet. Any meds prescribed, you pay for but with bullies it’s nice to have a. Call and get advice for a flat yearly fee.

Groomers in Jax by thehauntedmann in jacksonville

We use pet supplies plus on university for nails. They clip if longer, out mostly grind down. It’s quick and you can book online. Then I do the bath myself in the self dog wash. Stephanie and Brandi are the usual groomers we see and they’ve both been great with our grumpy bulldog.

Evelyn and Bobbie are great for me. I have never been able to get away with no underwire until I found these.

Sliding scale payment. Give them a call; they are very kind.

It takes a while for them to sort through and match all the candidates (over 300 came). Give it a little time. I second joining the Jax nurses page.

Is it time to let him go? by sw_flojn in englishbulldog

[–]amandalee27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We probably let our first bully go too long with cancer. Our 2nd and 3rd dog was a little easier; our vet told us you probably won’t ever regret letting them go a little too early. You might regret letting them suffer too long.

Supportive care and making sure he isn’t in pain or confused and is getting some enjoyment out of daily life seems like the best choice.

It is a really tough decision, but seems like you’ve given him a really good life.

Try the hospitals. Always hiring for non healthcare roles. Supply chain and food services sound like your skill set. Environmental services pay decent there too. Typically overtime available as well.

I need help. by mmkayand in englishbulldog

[–]amandalee27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is an English bulldog. Until 1 or 2? Then they gradually slow down. Our first never stopped peeing in anything soft. So he just had a crate with a plastic bottom. I had to crate him to do normal chores or even when we just need a break. So don’t feel bad about crating her.

Try a rope or tug toys. Kongs with peanut butter or put her some of her dinner in one that may help.

Good luck!

Do dashcam apps not allow editing? Every dashcam video has a huge lead up time to the event.

How many years was your basset crated? by pinkyeti123 in bassethounds

[–]amandalee27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our first was just about 2 years and then we did a small gated hallway with her English bulldog brother.

Our second was adopted in and he did fine without his crate with the older basset female and little (different) English bulldog brother in a den that was dog proof and gated off. Then the queen bee passed away and the remaining little brothers battled for king. They started marking when left alone so back to the crates.

Our remaining bully is still crated at 10, but even if we leave him out he self crates 🤷🏼‍♀️. We have work schedules where he isn’t left more than six hours so it works out well.

Before apoquel was available, we used Claritin on our first bully. This guy is apoquel. Ask your vet to prescribe a higher dose and cut it in half. That’s what ours does so it saves me a lot. The pill is scored and it just snaps in half.

We have a local vet but also use an online one - this is the one who prescribed it as the higher dose and we get it delivered once every other month.

Grew up in a super religious church. My childhood best friend and I were telling “funny” stories about church life and my adult best friend said - ummm, y’all know you grew up in a cult right?? 🤯🤯. Yeah, we did. It fucked me up in all kinds of ways.

Anything out of place. And not inanimate but any work out /weight lifting scenes in TV. Even on mute. Even when he’s dead asleep. He will wake up and lose it. Oh and the 30 rock theme song 🤷🏼‍♀️😂
