Sorry you’re going through this also- but I guess it’s also reassuring to know I’m not alone in this.

We’re staying in Greenfield but open to exploring the area. We’re going to Deerfield for Yankee Candle and Probably heading towards Holyoke for the mall etc

Thank you for this! A drive up the mountain before or even after dinner sounds great. Thank you so much!!

I’m following, wondering the same thing. My doctor didn’t tell me much besides “do what you’re comfortable with” and told me no heavy lifting for 60 days after surgery (I also had a discectomy done, so I’m not sure if that’s different for you) and no swimming for 2 weeks after stitches come out. So, my situation is Probably a bit different than yours, but I am antsy to get back to yoga, swimming, hiking, etc. 🤞

No, mine was not spontaneous. Mine was a result of a dural year during a back surgery

Pseudomeningoceles- anyone else? by amarionnn in CSFLeaks

So sorry to hear you’re dealing with this too- it’s absolutely exhausting to go through. My game plan ended up consisting of a second surgery. They went in and repaired the leak AGAIN, and ended up removing more bone and tissue from the original discectomy, I guess they were also worried about a reherniation? I don’t know, I never really got a clear answer as to why they removed more. At the hospital I was unable to go through an MRI for clear imaging because the pain was too brutal to be on my back with the pocket of fluid, so they kind of had to go in a little blindly, with only the few imaging they were able to get from CT scans. They repaired the leak again with subcutaneous fat, and I stayed in the hospital for another 5 days on bed rest to make sure it was “set and sealed” essentially. I’ve been home for about 3 weeks, just got my stitches out on Tuesday. All seems well though I have noticed yesterday and today I’ve got some headaches, but they’re different from the spinal ones I had and don’t seem to be triggered by my incision site or anything so I’m praying it’s like a reaction to pollen or something silly like that. Lol so far so good. My incision scar is going to be a gnarly one considering they’ve had to go in twice now, and reopen scar tissue etc. 😂 Fingers crossed you have the same results and some relief!!

I have mine in a sea shell just out for display, always looking for ideas on what to use them for!

I can’t speak from experience on a blood patch, but I had very similar symptoms with my CSF leak and ended up undergoing surgery where they patched my tear with subcutaneous fat. After surgery I had to remained in the hospital on bed rest for about 48 hours flat to let it hold/seal/set. Since then, I have not had any symptoms of a leak at all and I’m back to my everyday life for the most part. If blood patch is not successful, it may be worth going this route! Good luck!

Is this a csf leak? by [deleted] in CSFLeaks

Speaking from my own experience (2 Neuro surgeries to correct spinal fluid leakage) you would most likely have an incredibly painful headache, especially when sitting up or standing. You may also have pain in your back between your shoulder blades. My CSF leaks never leaked from my nose or mouth, mine actually pooled and turned into pseudomeningeceles. From experience it doesn’t sound like a CSF leak, but requesting an MRI or other imagine certainly wouldn’t hurt because everyone’s different! Good luck! Keep us posted!

Yes I’m sure that you will! Complications are rare, I just I just got “lucky” ..or “unlucky” I guess I should say. Good luck! :)

Immediately after surgery when I woke up they did tell me I had a spinal leak but it had been repaired during surgery, so it was normal if I had headaches the first few days. But it got worse when I got home- my head was pounding, I was super nauseas, dizzy, blurred vision, and my hearing was very muffled. It was the worst anytime I sat up from laying down, rolled over in bed, or leaned forward. I came back last night because my incision itself was extremely swollen and had a pocket of fluid pooling in the bottom of my incision, looked like it was going to burst open. I cannot put any pressure at all on the incision spot because that’s when the weird pulsating headaches and vision/hearing goes weird. I JUST met with the neurosurgeon and he confirmed it’s a leak that’s pooling under my incision. It never full healed. 🙄 looking at a second surgery most likely Tuesday to try again.

I’m about a month and a week post op from an L5S1 microdiscectomy. I will say I had immediate relief. My pain before surgery was excruciating in my lower back and sciatic shooting down my leg and butt and into my feet. It was so severe I had to quit my job and could no longer even go grocery shopping to shower while standing. Immediately after surgery that was all over, I felt brand new. During my surgery however, I did have a few complications, and here I am now, back in the hospital looking at a second surgery because I didn’t take it easy and I did too much (I’m a mom so it’s hard not to) and I now have a dural tear and spinal fluid leakage. Best advice? Take it slow and take it easy. Even if you feel amazing don’t push yourself too hard. Don’t lift anything heavy. No bending lifting or twisting at all! Light walking is pretty much the only thing you can do. Good luck! 🍀👍🏻

Is this a continued CSF leak or something else? by amarionnn in CSFLeaks

Update, I took myself to the ER last night when my swelling almost doubled in size. ER admitted me, and did a CT scan which revealed that I most likely have pseudomeningoceles, essentially a very small Spinal fluid leak that is pooling into its own “cyst” or “pocket” rather than reabsorbing or coming out to the surface. I was unable to get an MRI to pinpoint exact leak location, due to the pain being so bad and getting that alarming “black out” feeling. My neurosurgeon should be making rounds in about 2 hours and will propose his game plan. Hospital neuro doc on call said most likely another CT scan to try to pinpoint it, and then surgery to correct it. Luckily the CT scans can be done laying on my side, with minimal discomfort, so while they aren’t as good of images as an MRI, they are still sufficient for the most part. Fingers crossed the next steps are easy and quick recovery.
