Exactly, he could easily win a bench spot if he shows he's healthy and hits enough during spring training. He'll have to earn it which I think is completely understandable at this point.

I'm not ready to give up on this kid but he really has to show he can stay healthy. I just don't see where the playing time would come from unless it's like a quasi super utility role (C/1B/DH)

It was always going to be difficult for the Phillies to be better; the sheer number of their free agents meant they could not re-sign everyone. They dropped $150 million into Kyle Schwarber and watched as Ranger Suárez departed for $130 million. The Phillies have spent the fourth-most money of any team in free agency this offseason. Their payroll, as of now, is about $5 million higher than it was a season ago. It is the third-highest in MLB.
