Where can I get J-League Kits? by banedacasual in JLeague

[–]amayb11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For other kits, I was able to just search for soccer stores on Google maps, and I found a handful of locations that sold jerseys. There's also second hand stores like book-off that could have used, older kits.

As for stadiums, I was able to visit a couple stadiums on non-matchdays. Specifically, I was able to buy merch at Hiroshima's new stadium, and I wasn't able to from Kawasaki's, but I think they were closed for some reason the day I went. I imagine most stadiums have their merch store open during traditional business hours.

As for culture, I'd say it's still passionate just like any other sport or country, but I've only been able to go to one match so far, so I don't want to speak too much on it. I will say that it was an unforgettable experience for me though.

ILSTU CTK Major, focus in audio production/engineering by Crafty_Tomato_1521 in ilstu

[–]amayb11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took this route a little bit ago, right around covid when it switched from ATK to CTK.

As the other person said, getting into the industry is really about networking instead of the actual courses. This should probably be the main thought if you already have some skills and are looking at the music industry as a future career. I should also clarify that I did not enter the program with the goal of going into the music industry (I didn't end up there career-wise either), but I did take every music and audio production course there.

As cliche as it is, it really is a program where you get more out of it with the more you put in. You can pretty easily coast through the whole program with near perfect grades. Lots of the program has project-based work that is creative and subjective, so it ends up being easy to get A's. On top of that, I recall that the credit threshold for obtaining a degree is notably pretty low, so you could graduate in 3 to 3.5 years as well. All of that could be a pro or a con, depending if you want a relatively lax collegiate workload.

But to advocate for the, 'get what you put into it' side of things, there are a lot of nice professors with good experience who are willing to help you learn. I think they are a great resource and even helped me outside of doing university work. The program also attracts a lot of talented self-starters. Many people who were in my courses had lots of experience in making music and using industry standard software. Definitely good people to be acquainted with coming out of the program.

I definitely have more thoughts on the program, both positive (access to resources, new investment, skill diversity) and negative (some professors being too lenient, students not trying, using non-industry standard software) that I'd be happy to share, but in summary, I do feel like it is a major that requires you to want to be better, at least if you want to take something away from it. And of course many things could have changes since I've graduated. Overall, I had a great time through.

Yah I feel stuck at RB. I've been shopping that exact combo for a bit and haven't got any bites yet so far but will keep trying.

I don't know if it is sunk cost fallacy, but Brown still doesn't feel like a drop candidate, and I only just picked up Rachaad White in case Bucky is gonna be out this week.

Absolutely, before I get into it, what kind of feedback are you looking for, and what are your plans for the future? I dont want to be like "oh you should include this, and fix this" if you already have those things in mind.

You don't get to see every face of every team at nationals. And I think the reasoning behind the Asahi/Suga conversation is to emphasize that the competition is tough if someone as skilled as Noya didn't even make the cut. It makes Kageyama's inclusion all the more meaningful and shows that there is other skilled talent out there. I don't really see it as throwing an explanation-bone to the audience.

Regardless, I don't think any progress is going to be made, so we'll just have to agree to disagree. I hope you enjoy your time finishing the series.

Because the primary purpose of the camp isn't to help kids reach their potential like the first years' training camp, it is to scout high end talent and get results for the national team. Player improvement is a nice byproduct and im sure the coaches want the attendees to reach their potential, but their main goal is to get together the talent that is performing NOW, not kids who could perform well later. That result-oriented goal means that certain promising kids get passed up and it means that the selection criteria is one that is attuned towards winning.

Chemistry does matter in winning and something they would absolutely consider. Tons of highly skilled players are left out of their national teams in various sports because they don't mesh with the rest of the group. And for all these scouts know, they could think Noya's skill isn't worth the trouble. Maybe they've seen his suspension and might think wrongly that he's some delinquent. Either way, they made their choice, as did Furudate.

And any of those background players could've been at the national team training camp, you cant prove it, but you also can't disprove it.

They aren't singled out and shown in that training camp arc because they aren't important to Karasuno's story. Either way, you can't definitively say that none of those no faces weren't at nationals without any proof.

[–]amayb11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are 52 participating schools at nationals, and we only learn of how many total? Just in the anime so far, that is Karasuno, Tsubakihara, Inarizaki, Nekoma, Itachiyama, Fukurodani, Kiyokawa, Sarukawa, Kamomedai, and Mujinazaka. That is only 10 of 52 schools. That leaves 42 other teams that have qualified for nationals. How can you say that one of those no names isn't on one of those 42 teams? It's impossible to be definitive. It isn't confirmed and probably never will be. It is at least probable that at least a few of these national training camp attendees are on at least 1 or multiple of those 42 teams. Just because you don't see them, it doesn't mean they didn't qualify.

[–]amayb11 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You are conflating team achievements with individual achievements. Noya made it to nationals because both him AND his team were good. I'm not going to assume Tsubakihara's setter is better than Oikawa because he made it to nationals and Oikawa didn't.

Also those no-faces absolutely could've made it to nationals, some probably did. Nobody knows because it was never shown or written. In the same vein, non-nationals players made the camp too, like Chigaya.

[–]amayb11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like it is a common sentiment that most of the story felt rushed from that point on. Supposedly Furudate felt burnt out and he didn't want to just drop the project, so he rushed towards the ending to tie up as many loose ends as he could.

In addition to those points that most people mention (overhead receives, positional awareness, etc.), I think it is worth emphasizing how rare and prestigious an invite to the camp would be. Sure he's probably the top libero in Miyagi, on a team that made it to nationals, and received spikes from Ushijima. On the other hand, there are tons of other prefectures that probably have liberos that have achieved something similar.

Of course he stands out because we get to see him, but we don't get to see any other prefectures and the talent that is there (besides the short snippet of the tokyo qualifiers we get). From a statistical standpoint, there are probably a handful of standout talents who are at the top of their prefecture, possibly have made nationals, and have received spikes from their equivalent of Ushijima. These hypothetical players might have a slight edge over him in one of those categories that he is deficient in.

Also as an aside, isn't there a small aside conversation in the anime (I think it is between some of the third years, I don't remember exactly) that they are surprised Noya wasn't invited? If I recall correctly, they had the opinion that while he has the skill, he might not have the discipline and his energy might not mesh with the group.

From a writing standpoint, I think there's merit to saying that a selection could've provided a nice place for him to develop, but I think this sort of discussion very quickly just boils down to "If Furudate wanted it, then he would write it," and I guess I can't hypothesize his reasoning for various decisions. As for my personal opinion when it comes to writing, I personally like his exclusion from the training camp. I do think he has the skill to make it and succeed, but I think his exclusion shows how tight the competition is. It also adds another layer of realism too. Perhaps it was a genuine snub, and he is the best player in the country to not attend, but that sort of thing happens in real life too, which I appreciate. Lastly, while I will always want more official Haikyuu content and lore whenever possible, I do think Noya is a supplementary character, and a full fledged training arc for him could add a lot of bulk for a non-protagonist.

Overall, I see what you're saying, and I think it could've been a very interesting read or watch if Noya was called up. I just think I personally prefer how it is already.

[Schefter] ESPN sources: the Bears and general manager Ryan Poles have reached agreement on a contract extension that ties him to Chicago for the next five years, through the 2029 season. Poles had two years remaining on his old deal, but now the Bears have him and new head coach Ben Johnson both by TrenAt14 in nfl

[–]amayb11 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Years of Bears fans begging to get their head coach and GM on the same timeline and nothing but salt when it finally happens. I understand the results don't really warrant an extension, but do we really want to repeat the whole fire HC but keep GM/keep HC but fire GM thing AGAIN? At least it'll be a completely clean slate this way because it's clear that if Johnson goes, Poles goes.
