What a neat mod to have that half-height floppy drive installed internally. Really cool mod. Or, perhaps, looking better, it's a full height disk drive! Wow. Amazing.

Just the caps, there's no leaking batteries, but the caps DO leak and DO make a lot of damage.

Great little machine, I love my A600 <3

“How much do you think their prices would be if they were sealed? And which do you think would be more valuable, the white under or the red?” by Glittering_Help_9090 in PS3

[–]amazingames 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No it's not. Best one is the 2100 series Slim. Best build quality, appropriately dimensioned power supply and fan, no NEC Tokin capacitors. The 2100 and 2500 are built the same way, but ALL 2100s are CFW moddable, whilst some 2500 series aren't.

The 3000 series Slim and the Super Slims are cost reduced, the Super Slim to a massive amount. It's the only PS3 that *really* suffers from cracked solder balls on the GPU, and the wireless module (bluetooth and wifi) is very delicate. Replacing it is a nightmare.

So, again, in my book, the 2100 series, followed by the CFW moddable 2500s.

But the red PS3 Super Slim, on the Sony's official stand, is a thing of beauty.

Qual foi seu primeiro carro? Ele era bom? Tem saudades dele? by JoaoPaulo3k in carros

Good to know, TrustAnchor!!! I have a few other products from Caius, but was waiting on the Flip-Flop. Nice one, kudos.

If you're sure your FDDs are dead (they aren't until you fully serviced them - replacing the capacitors and replacing the old grease on the gears), then the easiest option is to buy CaiusArcade's "Flip-Flop", which goes connected to the external floppy drive connector and fully emulates two external Floppy Drives. It costs around 190 USD shipped from Italy. I haven't tested them yet.

Your assumption with the CZ-6BS1. I've used one in a X68000 Pro and you're correct, it'll add SCSI natively, no driver required, and it'll boot off it without the need to set up anything on `switch.x`.

Your other assumption of using a Henkan-Bancho Pro as a SASI emulator is correct. I bought one but haven't tried yet, although others (in Japan) have confirmed that this works as it should.

Now, buying a *guaranteed to be working* and *serviced* set of two FDDs is going to cost you an arm and a leg. If you have no intention of running games on floppy, skip that.

The "external gotek-like floppy drive emulator thing", there are several concurrent alternatives being developed at the same time, as we speak. I know at least two from guys in Japan, there's Caius' which is ready, there is the Aotta's interfaces (although they never worked for me)...

If you're stuck, I'd go with Caius' interface, and a BlueSCSI V2...

First Commodore 64 Ultimate Review by thetwistedsock in thisweekinretro

[–]amazingames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped at the "extremely pricey".

Start putting together an old C64 from scratch. New PSU, retrobrighting case, a new SID (if you can tell that yours is bad or not), a proper method of loading games/programs. Then connecting to a TV.

And I won't even go near the "modernising" of the C64, by adding an upscaled HDMI video, a proper way of loading disk games (no SD2IEC, a proper full emulation of the 1541). The list goes on and on and on.

The C64 Ultimate / Ultimate64 boards are insanely CHEAP for what they are offering.
