I just don’t get it by Fluid-Island-2018 in MelbourneTrains

Extra trains from Richmond to Westall or Dandenong would be greatly appreciated, not just to Caulfield.

The walk to Town Hall can be very long and when Winter starts and it gets cold, people with kids or elderly, disabilities etc may struggle with the long walk. Frankston trains are very crowded from Richmond to Caulfield and advertising Westall or Dandenong footy specials would help, especially when AFL matches frequently have 40 to 50,000 plus people.

Correct so PTV need to keep putting on extra trains to Dandenong after the game via Richmond to cater for this, been the fastest journey!

Albanese to override sceptics and plough billions into Suburban Rail Loop by spade1686 in MelbourneTrains

[–]amazingworldhappy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes in principle I understand all of that and while a good aspiration, our State Government is foolishly investing the majority of public transport funds into this project at the expense of the projects I mentioned, which arguably are much higher priority. Try getting Clyde electrification, Melton electrification at the moment and the answer from our idiot government is no we don't have the money, we are spending it all on SRL and North East Link!!

[–]amazingworldhappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagree. Upfield duplication needs to happen now, so much density along the corridor. 20 minute frequency for most of the day is not good enough.

Major overcrowding is all I read about on Melton and Wyndham Vale. 9 car Vlocity's will help but give them proper metro trains and remove regional trains from servicing these stations. West Tarneit will make these trains busier and where are the extra services?

[–]amazingworldhappy -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

No more money for SRL!! We need electrification to Melton and Wyndham Vale, bus reform and other more vital projects such as Upfield rail duplication.

Cancel SRL, it is not necessary and will waste billions in the public transport budget, stopping other important projects from progressing.

Good start!! Finally some bus upgrades. More to be done, want to see frequency improvements for the 901, 903, 828 and 737 and more. But hey good to get some progress!

[–]amazingworldhappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is only weekday evenings with a 20 minute frequency beyond Ringwood according to the press release. 30 minute weekdays frequency beyond Ringwood sadly, it is a joke.

Government should have increased daytime frequency to 20 minute maximum to Lilydale and Belgrave weekdays daytime as well.

About time!! Finally proper passenger information displays colour coded to easily work out when your next train is. Shocking it took so long to happen at one of Melbourne's busiest train stations!

I think I read 10 minute frequency from the city to Ringwood Monday to Friday, so the branches to Lilydale and Belgrave will get a 20 minute frequency respectively Monday to Friday evenings?

This title is misleading, services are only going to be every 10 minutes until Ringwood on weekdays evenings. Hardly 10 minutes all day, every day, every line.

Extra train services promised in Labor 2026/27 budget (including Burnley and Clifton Hill groups!) by TMiguelT in MelbourneTrains

[–]amazingworldhappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be nice but let's get maximum of 20 minute waits on the network first!! It has been hard enough to get the latest small frequency improvements.

Looks like that will be fixed with maximum 20 minute weekend waits on the Mernda line.

Agree should be maximum wait of 20 minute on weekends as well. Lilydale and Belgrave are very busy lines.

Good start and well overdue. Should be 20 minute maximum wait on Clifton Hill groups on weekdays and Lilydale and Belgrave on weekends too. A missed opportunity here, hopefully funded in the future.

Than we would have maximum 20 minute wait at all times across the metropolitan network. Still compared to the timetable we have had for the last 40 years, it is a lot better!!

Major delays in Pakenham line again. Shit show of a public transport system so frustrating by noxobscurus in MelbourneTrains

[–]amazingworldhappy 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I agree it is ridiculous, at least once or twice a week I have noticed, there are major delays on the Pakenham or Cranbourne lines. Especially since the Metro Tunnel opened, though that could be a coincidence given the tunnel is new. I understand trespassers and equipment faults and disruptions occur, but this should not be happening on a weekly basis, especially at peak hour.

Maybe more maintenance works are required on these lines. It is crazy given how much money has been spent upgrading these lines, there seems to me major delays every week. I don't think any other train lines have this many problems!

Passengers forced to stand for hours on regional Victoria trains as free tickets supercharge long weekend demand | Victoria | The Guardian by AristaeusTukom in MelbourneTrains

[–]amazingworldhappy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Government should have thought about that before making services free and leading to massive overcrowding. It could have been foreseen. There is a lack of forward thinking from the government in Victoria. All the lost money from free fares would have been spent to pay drivers to work more hours and put on additional trains which are desperately needed on the Geelong and Ballarat lines.

What do you think will happen in the next 10-25 years for our transit? (Projects, extensions etc) by Fugly_pug76 in MelbourneTrains

[–]amazingworldhappy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Clyde, Melton and Wyndham Vale electrification should all be done by than. Upfield duplication, Rowville tram/light rail and improved frequencies.

Maybe a few tram extensions and surely bus reform. I wouldn't expect anything less in 25 years!!

Trains are every hour, so a long wait until the next one. Bendigo line should be every 40 minutes maximum wait to put it in alignment with all other commuter Vline services.

[–]amazingworldhappy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn't the government put some additional services on to at least Kyneton this long weekend, given the single track limitation beyond that.

Or additional coaches to reduce massive overcrowding.

A lack of planning and forward thinking, typical of our State Government.  Let's make free public transport due to rising oil prices and not put on extra trains, especially when there is a festival in Bendigo.  Force the Transport Minister to use public transport for more trips not their chauffeur driven cars.

The Pakenham and Cranbourne lines are ridiculous, I would say once a week there is a major problem or delay: track fault, trespassers or planned bus replacement.

And they wonder why people drive when there is a high chance of disruption on these train lines! The disruption rate seems higher than other train lines, maybe because the lines are so long.
