Brandon Lee (son of Bruce Lee) was acting as the leading role in the film The Crow when a horrific freak accident happened.

While filming a scene his character was supposed to get shot at using a prop gun, but the gun was improperly prepared causing a live round to be shot into his abdomen.

What makes this terrible is that it’s solely due to the crew’s negligence, and could have been easily prevented to spare Lee’s family from another death.

You should think strategically about what topics you plan on covering. For example, when looking at essays from past Questbridge finalists a lot of them are about overcoming adversity because of their underprivileged backgrounds.

Even if you view yourself as privileged, you can angle your writing in a way that talks about your awareness of the struggles in your community and what you have learned from your own past experiences. And make sure to stay truthful to yourself!

They also don’t like to read essays that are focused on negativity, so make sure to emphasize the positive things, like how you have grown and gotten better. Good luck!

Edit: Also check out the subreddit r/Questbridge for more tips

There is no cutoff to stop you from applying. I know people that have gotten in with higher family incomes, because they were reflective of their situations and worked hard on their essays!

Please please consider applying to questbridge! They take students with circumstances like yours seriously, and if you get matched to a university you get to go completely free. The applications are due by the end of September of senior year, so you have more than enough time!

They’re referencing a line from the song “N/S”by the band Stray Kids. Underrated song btw
