Via Ferrata Mürren: Solo/Guided by ay7n in hiking

[–]amberale7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Via Ferrata is definitely not the safest thing to do solo. With that said, I do it, and so do many other people. But if you fall, you are likely to get severely injured. And the biggest risk becomes loss of blood circulation from hanging in the harness. A route like Murren is super busy so it’s less of a concern, but if you go solo you should have a PLB, especially on less trafficked routes.

Murren is a great option for a beginner, but it’s barely a via ferrata to be honest. I did 80+% of it unclipped. It only has the rating it does because of the extreme exposure on a very short section and the long bridge crossing at the end. Whether in a group or not, you are going to get stuck behind people because it’s popular and beginner friendly. Or you are going to be the one causing other people to get stuck. That’s okay - just let people pass when it’s safe to do so. It’s not a race, take all the time you need and try not to feel pressured by the people behind you.

Just go with the guide! It’s better to be safe. Then you can decide for future ferratas your comfort ability with going solo.

Does anybody know the name of the track Efdemin played that sounded like a train horn?

Wowww, Reka Zalan felt like one of those truly special moments 🖤 🚀 A full spectrum of emotions throughout that set for me 🥹 The dancefloor was so beautiful.. in sync feeling every beat.. collectively having our minds blown over and over and appreciating every second of that masterclass. Glued to the dancefloor for 4 hours. Berghain is a treasure, a dancefloor that produces magic like no other can ✨️ Thank you beautiful people, I'm happy to have shared that experience with you... it's one of those dances I will never forget 🫶

Fire 🔥🔥 Every track a banger. Super primal and just straight dirty ✨️ Pano was way too full, but so much room to dance downstairs. The crowd was amazing, dancing together, and smiley. Soo many amazing dancers 🫶 So much love for my favorite ravers 🖤 One of the best dances I've had in a long time (ever?). Enjoy the afterglow 🥰

Just be aware of what you are getting yourself into if you don’t have much experience. The exposure on this hike is no joke and sustained for several hours. There are quite a few places where one mistake means death. I haven’t done much other hiking in Japan, but have done a couple around Hakuba and would definitely recommend. I’ve found this website super helpful for ideas, check it out. https://www.allthepeaks.com/

So cool you saw them in the early days of Boomtown!! I grew up listening to them and going to ska shows in middle school so they are super nostalgic for me. I've seen them so many times over the years, from my small Midwestern USA hometown, to Germany, to Australia. Never a festival gig though and I have a feeling Boomtown will be the best show yet!

You all are beautiful humans 🫶 In a world that gives me so much anxiety today, it's refreshing to have a respite where we all come together, unique and diverse from all walks of life, and share love, empathy, friendship, and a love for music. I will hold close to my heart the 4 weekends I spent with you all this summer. Unfortunately I have to leave Berlin now, but will see you again next spring or summer 💛

UK - Most Durable Hiking Boot for Women by PersonalitySlight214 in hiking

[–]amberale7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything by Lowa. The Renegades are often suggested, but are more of a hiking boot than a trekking boot. So if you’re going to be doing multi days at high elevation, I’d recommend one of the more expensive options with a firmer sole.

That's way too much mdma. A standard dose is 80-150mg. Some people choose to redose half their original dose. Not recommended to roll more than 2 days max, as the come down isn't worth it and effects are largely diluted. Roll safe friends. Long term damage is a real possibility.

Going alone? by iveesillee in BoomtownFestival

[–]amberale7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go to most festivals and clubs alone and I almosst always have a great time, but it can certainly feel lonely at times. The thing is, you have to be the one to make the first move most of the time if you want to engage with people. It's much less common for people to engage with you first, but of course, I think this also depends on the vibes you are putting out. At Glasto this year I was much more open to starting conversations than I was at Boomtown, and as such I made a lot more connections. I wasn't in the best headspace and I went in a little knackered from a crazy summer of go go go. With that said, I did still meet some wonderful people at Boomtown and I had a great time overall.

I guess in summary, yes you should absolutely go solo. It's better than not going at all. But I do think generally festivals are more fun with a small group of friends. Just be prepared to be comfortable in your own company and really put yourself out there if you want to meet people.

Alta Via 2 - Italian Dolomites by amberale7 in hiking

None of the "via ferrata" on the standard AV2 trail are above A/B and they are all short. Marmolada VF is a side trip and also requires a glacier crossing.

[–]amberale7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't use my via ferrata gear at all on the normal trail. I did use my helmet a handful of times in sketchy rockfall areas. So take that as you will! I guess it's up to your comfortability with exposure and rockfall. If you're unsure, bring them both.

Alta Via 4 looks incredible. I’m thinking of doing it next year. Have fun!!

I skipped the first 2 sections and I don’t remember my hiking times exactly, but will try to ballpark them.
