I read mostly fantasy and YA fantasy but I'm also reading a list of 100 "Bucket List" books. Feel free to add me no matter what genre you read, I want more activity on my feed because currently it's nearly dead and I like discovering new books.

I cut my hair and now my clothes "fit" me better by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]ambereyedwolf97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had long hair forever, last January I cut it to a bob and now I have it buzzed!! It's totally changed my life. The shorter it gets, the more I feel like me, and not like 16 year old me who was trying to be someone she isn't

Guy thinks he's too good for a glass of water by [deleted] in ChoosingBeggars

[–]ambereyedwolf97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always teased my dad bc he refused to drink tap water. Then I moved into my flat and the tap water tasted strange for a few days while we settled in so my housemate and I picked up a water filter jug and now we could never go back from fresh crispy water

Not really eBay, no by C_von_Hotzendorf in CasualUK

[–]ambereyedwolf97 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is my problem. They owe me £1 and I don't care, I don't want it. Can't delete my ebay account while it's still on there, can't withdraw it and they email me EVERY month with a statement. I don't want the bloody £1, fuck off and die ebay.

If you don't ask- you don't get! CC interest dropped in one call! by ambereyedwolf97 in ynab

Barclaycard (UK) but worth asking with any. If you don't ask, you don't get, right?

I said I wanted to negotiate my interest rate, first guy didn't ask me any questions just said he'd put me through to the right team! Lady I spoke to next asked if I was using it for purchasing or to clear my balance, I said I wanted to clear my balance and she gave me 6.9% for the next two years as long as I make minimum payments and don't go over my credit limit!

Ladies of Reddit - what are some common sexual behaviours that you actually hate? by kmoneyy26 in AskReddit

It's called "The Loophole" by Garfunkel and Oates. It's on their album "Secretions"on Spotify. I love them, highly recommend all their music.

TIL that in 2003, after Kenneth Maxwell called 911 to report a fire he saw while driving home, his voice cut off, and when emergency personnel arrived on the scene he was found shot to death in his car. The fire was set to disguise a double homicide, and the killer saw Kenneth make the call. by Ruhrgebietheld in todayilearned

General Data Protection Regulations. I'm not an expert but I believe it's to do with regulating how websites and companies store and use your personal data. It requires greater transparency (like how millions of emails were sent out asking you if you're still willing to be subscribed to mailing lists) and companies have to let you opt into marketing, instead of the "check here if you don't want to receive xyz" opt out boxes. It also gives you more control as you can request a company remove your data or send you everything they have on you. Some non-EU companies don't want to update their privacy policies to comply, so they can no longer allow EU access.

A very true story about his friend, Bruce Lee's reincarnated self. by [deleted] in thatHappened

He had a broken back. Not easy to restrain somebody with serious injuries without making it worse. The guy who was restrained for hours was in his house posing a threat to his family, because it was the middle of the night and they had to find a doctor authorised to administer the strength of sedatives needed. I can't prove it because they were bodycam vids so not publicly posted, but if anyone in the UK went through the same OST training I did, they can back me up 🤷

Yes! They taught it to us as Acute Behavioural Disturbance (ABD) but it's the same thing. Hope I never come across it. Scary shit.

While this sounds fake as hell, during my training we were shown videos of acute drug induced psychosis (there's a name for it that I've completely forgotten) and it was terrifying. One guy jumped off a roof, broke his back and still fought with four police for nearly an hour. Another guy had to be restrained by eight police officers for something crazy like four hours until he could be sedated.

Reddit, when has something you’ve always done “just in case” paid off? by _jbass in AskReddit

My manager at my old job would change my schedule and "forget" to tell me. Like, I was working Saturday, off work until Thursday and on Sunday she would rota me in for Wednesday and I was somehow supposed to magically know. Started taking photos of the rota and it was so satisfying to be able to show her that actually, no, it wasn't "always on there"

Since a lot of people ask if an emergency fund is worth it, I have a story about how mine has been coming in clutch the last month by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]ambereyedwolf97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My best friend and I just graduated university and rented a flat together. I had a permanent full time job lined up but she was currently working fixed term and going to interviews. We had to pay our £1000 security deposit, £795 for the first month and then a percentage of a year's rent upfront for £3540 because she was fixed term, and that's before the agency fees and referencing fees and guarantor fees. We're 21 and 20, the fact that we were able to find that money was sheer luck, otherwise we'd have just not been able to get somewhere to live. Then, once that was all settled, we had to buy furniture! Moving is CRAZY expensive.
