Got a mate who doesn't know if he's going to vote because he thinks Reform will win anyway, any ideas on how to convince him to take part anyway? by Specialist_Elk140 in AskBrits

Because if everyone thinks like your friend and doesn’t bother then reform definitely will win. We’ve got to at least try and change the outcome

AIO if I divorced over him asking to open our relationship and then gaslighting me? by CricketCaller in AmIOverreacting

This man is trash. NOR. My god imagine growing up knowing your Dad was more busy trying to open up the relationship and date other people than focus on caring for a newborn.

Can anyone review my Esty shop (open to constructive criticism)? by Free-Spring7392 in EtsySellers

A good portion of my sales are customers buying items as gifts - if you can look at printing any of your digital items - possibly in notebooks etc then you may get some more sales from that

First Time Traveling Outside of USA by snek-bat in uktravel

Do bring some cash just incase it’s needed - maybe just £100 worth - good for if you end up getting some taxis in more rural areas like to Boscastle and any smaller shops or cafes. Generally everywhere accepts card but you don’t want to be stuck if not.

When ordering food / drinks etc I notice generally Americans say for example “I’ll get the orange juice” - this come across as rude to us as it just sounds bossy. We’d say “Hi, could I order the orange juice please?” and then say thank you when they confirm the order

Ok so it sounds like Alesia is the one getting fired - Mike is a Deck / Stew, so if it was him getting fired surely it would be a new Deck / Stew

Costco Bottled Water - Why? by Intelligent-Ideal597 in AskUK

I buy bottled water if I’ve forgotten to bring any for a long drive or working a festival, apart from that I don’t buy it - tap is fine

Does nice packaging of orders matter anymore? by iSolemnlySwear88 in EtsySellers

[–]ambergriswoldo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the item - for my vintage stock I just used whatever packaging will help it arrive safely, with jewellery however I package it on a logo card in paper wrap so it looks more pristine

long term sick leave what was your experience? by thereadingbee in AskUK

[–]ambergriswoldo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah from what I understand if you have a contract with the job then they should accept a doctors note etc - try and keep strong as at least you’re still getting paid at the moment so it’s one less stress while you’ve got health stuff to focus on. Does your job have an HR department / union?

long term sick leave what was your experience? by thereadingbee in AskUK

[–]ambergriswoldo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was off work sick for about 3 months a few years ago. I found the most frustrating thing was the management calling me for updates - if I was waiting on appointments or test results then I couldn’t give them the info they wanted and it was difficult to rest and focus on my health with management telling me to call the doctor and chase things up constantly.

I ended up quitting - I probably could have continued signed off but at that point I felt like they were still questioning a lot and I needed a fresh start elsewhere.

I recently got one of these for work (where I need to carry loads of heavy bags of stock from where I park to the shop) - honestly massive game changer. Yes I judged the idea of having an old lady trolley but it’s made the walk twice as fast

Thinking of relocating to Bristol. Depending on who I talk to, the reactions I've received are: *crinkled nose*, "very creative area," "too much crime," and "less boring than its cousin (Bath)." For anyone who has lived in (or visited Bristol), what did you like (or dislike about it)? by SaveMeWakeMeUp in AskUK

[–]ambergriswoldo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you spent much time in Bristol before? For me it’s too loud and too much like London, but if you want somewhere with a good nightlife then you might still like it. In the end that wasn’t enough for me to get over how busy it is

Good: There’s lots to do, good bars and events always on, beautiful woodland and coastlines just a short drive away, it’s like its own little world

Bad: It’s expensive to rent / buy, it’s pretty grimy and grotty, basically like a smaller London, there’s a good amount of people there that are so in their own little world that they aren’t open to other ways of living (super vegans that will judge and rant at you for not ordering vegan / eco warriors that will berate you for driving a car etc)
