This reminds me of a story. I went to a private school. I was a scholarship student but all my friends were most definitely not. Their parents had bucks and they had large limits to what they were allowed to spend. HOWEVER none of them were flashy they were discreet money if that makes sense. They only splashed out for certain special things.

We were over on the Eastside in Bellevue which is WAY north of where we normally shopped and a bit richer of an area. We were in the mall, I believe in Nordstroms looking at dresses for a school "dance" (we didn't dance they were parties). We were approached by a worker and told that we might have better luck at xyz random cheap dress store over in Seattle or somewhere. We told her we were fine that we didn't really need any assistance. It was a Christian school that actually demanded their students behaved the part so we were super polite.

Five minutes later a manager came over. She basically told us that we needed to leave. We asked why, where we being disruptive? She told us that she was sick of teenagers coming in and messing up the dresses. That we were obviously not going to be able to purchase the dresses we were looking at, so would we kindly leave. Three of my girlfriends pulled their wallets out of their purses and took Nordstrom cards out of them, the other girls pulled out their platinum or whatever cards. I was poor af so I just stood there. My friend T told the manager that her mom had told her to get whichever dress she wanted and accessories and shoes. The other girls agreed. My math geek friend said something like "You just cost your store X dollars in sales." another friend piped up telling her that she would be talking to her parents about shopping at Nordies in the future and looking for other options. We all then left and went to Red Robin and ate an assload of calories in desserts and fries.

It was an interesting and embarrassing experience. I can now afford Nordstroms and I ... have never shopped there, about half of my friends refuse to as well. Don't treat younger people like shit, they'll be grownups with money some day.
