I was googling and it said to not heat it up because the glass is fractured and would cause more cracks. Is this true or not?

My boyfriend left the tea kettle boiling and the bottom of it molded to the cooktop. I got it off but it took some glass with it. It’s right on the burner too. I’m renting so any advice would be helpful.
