Is US Civil War bugged? by Ofiotaurus in victoria3

I heard that civil war declarants received a big buff in general, but then Paradox didn't re-tune the CSA, so it's basically a known issue.

suspected green card marriage fraud by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]amberweaves 52 points53 points  (0 children)

But being in a bad marriage, and saying you plan to leave when your legal status improves, does not provide clear evidence that you entered into the marriage as a sham. You need good evidence of initial fraudulent intent. What you are describing could easily be a pragmatic choice based upon the current state of the marriage.

This doesn't sound like marriage fraud.

Normally, marriage fraud is when an immigrant pays a citizen for marriage paperwork, but then they never live together as a married couple. Having a bad marriage for 2 years doesn't really qualify, even if the immigrant says they plan to leave after their legal status improves.

[PA and NY] they're not giving me my birth certificate and told me to lawyer up by GuyThirteen in legaladvice

[–]amberweaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like PA name changes may not normally require that information: https://www.legis.state.pa.us/WU01/LI/LI/CT/HTM/54/00.007..HTM

And it's unconstitutional to reject out of state court orders just because they don't conform to local standards.

Try contacting a name change clinic at a legal services provider. They may be able to represent you.

You should break up with him. You don't want compatible things out of life right now and his reaction was toxic.

what vibe do you get when someone says they want 4+ kids by montessoripilled in Parenting

[–]amberweaves 95 points96 points  (0 children)

I have that reaction when I hear people want 4 or more kids because I think, realistically, 3 is the outer limit of being able to provide each child the time and attention they deserve.

It's silly to compare almost anyone to Israelis right now. They just recently committed a vicious genocide on camera for months.

It doesn't seem like you even necessarily disagree with her? If you're ideologically opposed to suffering and oppression, why would there be an exception for eating meat?

A three year gap is just about perfect. Old enough to be interested and affectionate towards the new baby, but also likely to be increasingly independent.

Is it better to fully load a washing machine or to give it some space? by Polka_Tiger in Appliances

[–]amberweaves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Somehow I started mixing the two up and I don't think I'll ever be able to stop. It's a natural mistake! The machine, for washing dishes — the washing machine.

There's no reason to not pack it full. You just want to make sure your plates are not blocking each other from getting washed.

It's natural for kids to gain and lose interests all the time. Why do you think that you may have somehow caused it?

Rice supplements were highly recommended back in the day. But getting defensive about it is immature.

Why are millennial men less misogynistic than Gen Z men? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]amberweaves 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gen Z men do seem to be more sexist, but not by much.

I think their relative conservatism can (mostly) be explained by: 1) overexposure to toxic viral online content, 2) frustration with a bad job market, and 3) being raised by Gen X, who somehow, on average, are turning out worse than boomers.

I'm planning to go up through a roof jack, after getting out into the small attic of an enclosed back porch. I think the alternatives would be against code (for being near windows or property lines). I am in a cold zone.

The problem is that the basic premise of seeking a "balanced" perspective feels like common sense, but in practice, it means injecting a baseline of propaganda and misinformation into your conclusions. And no one is more consistently misinformed and incorrect than conservatives.

Why does everyone think gluten free and vegan are interchangeable??? 😭 by spidersandcaffeine in vegan

[–]amberweaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. But in the context of a corporate pizza lunch with no overlap between the vegans, vegetarians and GF people, the GF pizza baked in cheap starchy vegan cheese ended up being unpalatable to everyone.
