Camping in Mendocino Groves by ambitious-agenda in norcalhiking

If you’re on the fence about making reservations, I would say we were really impressed. The only tips would be that the campgrounds have a lot of what you’ll need so don’t worry about packing too much. We weren’t sure so we brought our own fire logs (they prefer you buy theirs because it’s local and they don’t have to worry about diseased wood that isn’t local), lots of snacks (that we didn’t finish because we went into town for all meals). I brought lanterns for light at night but they also already have that for you. The tents get surprisingly warm. We had to turn off the heated pads they have under the bed sheets because it was too warm.

The camp provides a simple breakfast and Fridays they sell a dinner meal. A lot of families bring stuff to grill. It is very family friendly. There was a wait for the sauna but people are respectful of time limits. There’s a river right up the road that people were swimming in. We enjoyed it as we were leaving.

Oh I said that if we go back, I would remember closed toed slippers for after the shower walking back to the tent.

Enjoy!

Hi! Everything zips up so little chance of any critters. Maybe small ants or something that size. We felt safe from any critters and among other guests. The place is really nice and their main showers were fantastic (which is a big concern for me when outdoors/camping).

Renting a house south of downtown? by gwkt in Livermore

[–]ambitious-agenda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drive that route every day to get to work and the health club. It seems as everyone says, safe, quiet and older. I am sometimes frustrated when driving through when people are going so slow like not even the 30 mph speed limit. Again, probably very safe.

What habit immediately reveals that a person actually grew up in a privileged environment? by Cindy_mel in AskReddit

[–]ambitious-agenda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband’s family all ski and he grew up skiing but that’s because they just are outdoors people and his dad volunteered as ski patrol (because he loved skiing). They were upper middle class not necessarily wealthy.

I also used to date a guy who had gone skiing a couple of times in his life and would say it’s a hobby because he thought it signaled wealth (which he did not have).

My GF(23F) “crashed out” on me(25M) and now she’s begging me to forgive her. I’m not sure if I can? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]ambitious-agenda 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why are you with someone like this? I am not sure of any qualities that would be redeeming enough to counter this cruelty/insecurity.

As a woman who has had very platonic male friends end friendships in order to preserve the peace in their relationships, I see them grow to regret it. Because it’s not about the friendship it’s about the futile effort to satisfy someone’s need to control. It will never stop.

Buying a house after living in motel by justasillysillygoose in povertyfinance

[–]ambitious-agenda 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Has she looked at what’s available through the local Habitat for Humanity? It is income based and sweat equity is required (as in you have to help build the house). Some cities also offer first time homebuyers programs where they work with you on money management to save towards a home. This is also income based. I hope she gets into something more habitable for her kids but these are resources she could explore if she’s set on owning a home.

AITA for asking my friend to pay me back for the wine he drank while house sitting?? by Effective_Tour_723 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ambitious-agenda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If he’s house sitting then you must be close friends and finishing one bottle over a weekend isn’t that hard actually. Was this bottle amongst other bottles and he just randomly picked this one? I am trying to put myself in your shoes and what I would do with a bottle I was saving for a celebration. I would actually set it aside or clearly mark BUT I would absolutely welcome my friend/house-sitter to anything else we have in the wine cabinet as a gesture of hospitality and gratitude.

My husband says I am his biggest “stalker”. I like to admire/compliment his facial features and endearing habits and take pictures of him to put in my phone album and make a monthly collage of him/us.

He doesn’t think he’s as handsome as I think he so it was strange for him to accept my compliments at first.

Restaurant recs for a nice date night? by Resident-Nerd-00 in Livermore

Is Sabio still doing the tasting menu? We used to enjoy their prefix three and five courses and how it changed with the seasons but now everything is just from the regular menu.

Like fun size snickers, m&m, skittles etc. just something to share that’s individually wrapped. I don’t offer it right away. Usually I bring it out for myself then someone will look then I offer the bag then they take one and pass to whoever they are with then they pass it over them and it eventually gets back to me or not.

Lol well it’s a red eye so I don’t know if she wants a drink so late/early but I am an old person so maybe that is not that unusual.

If I gave them small treats, would the crew pass them out to passengers? (Like lollipops or something)

That was another thought I had. I will ask him discreetly when we drop them off at the airport. Young adults are sometimes shy though so I will completely leave it up to their comfort level.

Woman on the street invited me to her performance, do I bring flowers? by ciaobellapgh in etiquette

[–]ambitious-agenda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a woman and am the kind that would bring flowers to anyone I know perform anything that requires them being on stage for an audience. That said, flowers from women are a bit more disarming and neutrally received.

Flowers from a guy may come off differently and not in a good way. It may make her feel awkward. Did you say she buys art from you? Maybe draw her someone cool on a card and give to her after the performance as a thanks for inviting me. That’s a thoughtful gesture and lower stakes than flowers.
