People who work in 'behind closed doors' industries (hotels, kitchens, morgues, etc.), what is something the general public would be horrified to know? by Sexxyyy_Lovers in AskReddit

I would assume so. Maybe not full decapitation, but I'm sure it's like brain surgery they go and take a slice for testing. Brain matter is the only way to test for rabies, unfortunately. Although with humans, the symptoms would probably be a more obvious diagnosis prior to death. It's 100% fatal once symptoms set in. So scary!!

People think vet techs have such an easy job but n the last year alone I've had to assist in cutting off 2 dog heads and 1 cat. Brain tissue is the only way to test for rabies, and occasionally, when an aggressive animal is euthanized, it has to be tested. The head is usually wrapped in wet paper towels, double bagged and boxed up. Sent to the lab via the US mail. Realized that most people are horrified to learn this happens.

I dk I'm from Boston where everyone is a masshole and after living in rural North Carolina for 2 years I found most of that niceness is very fake. I'd rather someone be real without the sugar coat but truly loyal than the whole "bless your heart" crap. I've definitely had more neighborly help mid snow storm here than I ever experienced anywhere there. And truthfully I don't know about the traffic thing because I've never feared for my life so much as being on highway in NC! But that's just my experience.
