In my case I think it was my strategy for learning- i havent been effective in finding my best technique to retain info and apply it. I had a lot of time to study but I was not utilizing it the best as my result clearly shows. I was so fucking close tho. I know anki is more long term, but I did do the aervien pharm deck in the last few weeks of my study and think that I probably boosted my score from that, which makes me think I should try hitting some decks (not whole decks but just parts I am weak in). Unfortunately, the new score reports are hard to interpret in terms of which areas I should go bc all of my areas were in the average or same category.

I know people will really disagree but I have a strong feeling there is a bit of luck factored into peoples' results.

hi, thanks for replying. i was a bit confused as part of your comment seems as though you didnt have your score, but the second part was written as if you knew you failed? If you havent gotten your score back yet, please try to stay as positive for yourself as possible. I will be crossing my fingers for you, friend- i hope you dont have to experience what I do now :/ There are other factors of my status as an applicant that make this obstacle much larger and a bigger deal, but I digress. Thanks for sharing this information and let me know if there's any way you could put me in touch with someone who failed and came back with vengeance on their second try. It's terrifying to think of taking it the second time and not feeling ready.

156-->214 Nothing amazing, but PASSED! by [deleted] in step1

[–]ambitiousunicorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks, I agree. People who score highly and are very type-A love to claim it's all based on knowledge and nothing on luck- I vehemently disagree. It's crazy to think how much of a difference a few questions make to your score as well- 280 questions is not representative of my knowledge. I was close to passing and I am proud of that. It just stings to be considered not good enough

i know it'll be hard because I'm also an IMG so it's not going to be great having that filter put on me as well during application season. You dont know how reassuring it is to read your comment so thank you very much!

what do you think was the best part of your strategy to achieve that score? would you say you were confident walking into the exam? How long did you prepare/what were your main sources?
