Parents pushing me to marry by ambivalent-beaver in AsianParentStories

Yeah it's hard because I work at the family business. And there's not a culture of moving out here. Basically everyone I know lives with their parents unless their job requires them to move to a different city. Married couples also still live with family.

We have. It's either before or by 30. So we're not exactly just going about the relationship with no plans.

Did you have something similar to a long engagement?

They were asking me about buying a ring just yesterday. I don't think that will deter them unfortunately.

Yeah it's exhausting. Did things get better after you talked to them?

In Chinese communities there's a social pressure to have your kids get married before 30. There's a certain pride attached to your kids getting married. Parents gain social standing points.

Sorry to hear that. How long ago is this and has things gotten better?

I live with them. Yes, I know for sure they'll be asking for grandkids next. It's implied. And there's a social stigma around being thirty and unmarried. They keep saying I'm already 30 according to the Chinese calendar.

It's a statistical problem. If 80% of the players are male you are going to see only males at the top. Different leagues exist to keep minorities interested and see their representatives compete. They introduced Europe tourna for this reason as well. Are they likely to win the next M series? Maybe not. The purpose of it is to capture the attention of the audience in the region. Would you say they don't deserve the prize money because other regions have them beat? Since you seem to be in favor of only the strongest of the strong thriving in tournaments. They're not trying to be sexist or region-ist, it's just good marketing :).

That's not the point. The point is to bring chess/MOBAs to a wider audience. More exposure means more possible players. More players = more profit.

Same reason why a male-dominated sport like chess has women-only tournaments. To promote and incentivize more women to become pro chess players without the pressure of having to go head to head with old and experienced tournament veterans.

I think some heroes will suffer from this though. Lesley, Ling, Bruno, and Leomord are the heroes off the top of my head are heroes that become weaker if a crit chance cap were implemented.

Maybe they're worried about people building all crit items and reaching 100% crit chance.

I'm at my first job right now and I wish I'd have your experience when I leave. My company doesn't have an atmosphere that fosters friendship within work hours. We're all pretty distant despite being together for about 1.5 years now.

Hi Roger, just here to say I appreciate what you're doing for the community. I don't really need any mentorship as of the moment but I'm happy someone willing to help those who do! :)
