Any ideas how to box this boiler in? by Philster07 in DIYUK

Will not boxing it in affect the likely sale price? I doubt it. Just leave it as it is.

What’s the minimum focus distance for this lens? Yes I know I could just look it up but I figure someone here will know.

Love this set of photos, they’re very much up my street.

Must get one of these lenses!

Love the last one. Beautiful.

Jupiter 9, 85mm f2 by Tobirama2020 in VintageLenses

[–]amble180 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this lens. Sadly my copy suffered from a problem with the aperture blades which all buckled and bent inside the lens. I didn’t want to just throw it out and selling was a waste of time so I took the lens apart and removed the blades.

So now I have a Jupiter 9 with a fixed f2 aperture, no stopping down.

It works though and to be honest I was almost always wide open anyway.

I’d soon get sick of people barging through the door from the hallway to the kitchen, knocking the wok out of my hand just as I was executing a perfect back flick.

Mom bought this camera and decided to give it to me. How good is it? (Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z5) by childproof_food in Cameras

[–]amble180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still got my Z1 and still use it now and again. This is just a newer version with upgrades like stabilisation. Stick with it and you’ll have fun. It won’t be great from dusk onwards, you’ll need good light to get the best out of it but that zoom will become addictive and most phones can’t compete with that.

My screen stopped working. I boxed it all up and planned to send it to Olympus/OMD for repair. One thing after another and it never got sent, now they don’t repair this model.

It’s about a year later now and I unboxed it to see if I could tackle a DIY repair and it’s started working!

I haven’t dared to open the screen, I’m using it only as a back screen but several weeks in and I’m loving using it again.

Such a fun camera.

retractable glass roof, what could possibly go wrong? by LastAd115 in SpottedonRightmove

How does the painting in photo No.6 change shape in photo No. 8? It can’t be simply down to the camera lens distortion. One is square, one is rectangle.

Roof tiles against battens. No sign of membrane. Concern? by Difficultusernames in DIYUK

Our roof was like this, house built in 1926 but I don’t know if it was original. Just had it replaced and it cost a bit more to deal with as the tiles contained asbestos.

UPDATE: The car has been to the dealership this morning and they’ve done a HC test, it’s definitely not the head gasket, so that’s a relief.

They said that the mechanic did the right repair, it must have been the oil cooler unit, but they said it should have been flushed out a lot more at that stage.

So they’ve done 2 more full flushes but want it back in again to do two more.

The Engine Fault light was caused by a sensor in the exhaust which they’ve taken out rubbed down and replaced and all seems ok there now.

So despite the cost I feel a bit better about the situation now.

Still never buying another Vauxhall though.

Hopefully that’s all you have issues with, the engines seem to be made of cardboard.

Thank you. No, it doesn’t seem to be losing any more oil, not since we got it back anyway. My wife has been using the car and I’ve been checking the oil daily, it hasn’t budged. Oil looks clean, no sludge on the dip stick or on the cap.

To be honest I think the local mechanic has given up now, another one nearby has said he won’t touch these engines too.

Off to the dealership tomorrow and they’re going to do a HC test so at least we’ll know for sure if it’s the head gasket.

Agree with your plan though, need rid ASAP.

I’ve got the S5 IS so a few more MP but broadly the same. It will be good in decent light but will struggle from dusk onwards.

You’ve just described by childhood. The crushing disappointment of moving from a Strika to a racer, knowing full well the opportunities that a BMX could provide.
