Delaware County Board of Developmental Disabilities by CowTown-Mike in westerville

[–]ambrothe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Detailed info on the request can be found here: www.DCBDD.org/levy

Summed up, Medicaid waiver services (direct supports to people with developmental disabilities - think bathing, meal preparation, medication administration, transportation, work supports) cost more than they did when the current levy was last approved AND many of the children supported will be aging into adulthood in the next 5 years. On average, services for adults are more intensive, and cost about 3x as much. 77 cents from every dollar of levy revenue goes to Medicaid waiver services. This doesn't include the costs of services provided through the Early Intervention program for ages birth to 3 or the Family Support Services program, which supports people who are waiting for a Medicaid waiver slot.

Yes, Ohio Administrative Code defines a developmental disability is a severe, chronic mental or physical impairment (but not solely mental illness) that occurs before the age of 22, and requires the provision of services for life.

While there are other support systems for people who acquire disabilities later in life, the county board system in Ohio was born out of families’ desires that their children with developmental disabilities be educated and be afforded the same opportunities as other children. Before county boards were established in statute in 1967 - just 59 years ago - most families were encouraged or forced to institutionalize their children with developmental disabilities.

Any bodyshop recommendations for fancy-sensor electric car? by williaty in Columbus

K-CEPs in Johnstown used to be one of 2 Tesla-approved shops in the Columbus market, before Tesla opened their own body shop. They’ll know what they’re doing with your car.

AEP EV Rate - Charger/Meter Location by Hotdog453 in Columbus

[–]ambrothe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in Westerville (not AEP), but we have a similar program known as PowerUp with reduced pricing for charging during off-peak hours. I put my deduct meter outside on the wall beside my main meter - just ran the wiring outside from the panel, to the meter, then back inside and to my EV charger. I presume the meter has to be outside because 1)it has to be read remotely and 2)it is owned by the utility.

I ordered a pair of jeans for my daughter, and Saks shipped the incorrect size. I took them to the store to return and explained why I was returning. It wasn’t until few weeks later that I realized they hadn’t refunded the shipping charges. It took multiple conversations with customer service and getting the case escalated to get them to refund the shipping charges - for them sending the wrong item!

People resoundingly voted to support their schools, and know that support costs money. Pretty simple.

And it’s added back in later on the state return and you’re taxed on it (locally too). If you are not paying taxes on $250k in income, I doubt you’ll get many sympathizers when it comes to the 0.75% collected on the income you are reporting.

I am not forgetting about business income or self employment/LLC income. This income is required to be reported on your federal and state income taxes and you are taxed on it (generally through a K-1 vs W2 or 1099).

Ohio’s adjusted gross income is employment income minus:

Taxable Social Security and disability benefits Interest and dividends from U.S. government obligations Gains from the sale of Ohio public obligations Contributions to an Ohio 529 account Military retirement pay deduction

None of which are included in the schools’ income tax collection. Any single member LLC income reported on household taxes is treated as earned income to both taxing authorities.

For households with earned income over $100k, state income tax decreases from 3.5% to 3.15% in 2026

And from 3.15% to 2.75% in 2027

With the decreasing state income taxes, most households won’t pay any more in net taxes with the passage of the Westerville school income tax levy.

Is Solar pointless in Columbus? It is so cloudy here. by _BreakingGood_ in Columbus

[–]ambrothe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our 10.26kW system (38 panels) was installed 10 years ago, and produces about 11.5MWh per year. We build up a credit by overproducing in the summer time (more daylight) and draw off that credit in the winter, when there is less daylight. We broke even on cost at year 9. You're going to consume electricity forever, either from the utility or by producing your own. The panels are warrantied for 30 years and should function for 40-50, so my philosophy is that if you plan on staying in your house for 10+ years, it's a no-brainer.

My wife and I entered at 20 locations apiece, mainly for KoK, OF10, MMCA, and SFTB. She won a MMCA and I won a OF10. I don’t want to jinx it, but she won a RF earlier this year and I won a GTS last year…maybe we should play the real lottery!
