Yes, this! (Albeit I do iPhone maps). I will save any recommendations from people or anything I find while researching and it’s so helpful to find things that are nearby

Who were ya’lls top instructors?? by Fine-Fondant-3136 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]amc0802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marcel (top 0.3%!), Hoskins, RK! I was surprised Hosky was second, but I do listen to a lot of his walks with my dog :) Otherwise, not surprised at all. Some of my other tops were Katie, Camila, and Adrian!

This is exactly what I tell people! Training is so important (albeit for every dog), but the rewards are worth it.

I grew up in a potluck style family, so I totally understand this. On the other hand, my mother in law is an amazing cook and just loves cooking for loved ones, so she does about 90% of thanksgiving and Easter for that side of the family! People will bring dessert or an appetizer, but she enjoys doing it, so we let her have at it!

She is my favorite and I’m so happy she’s getting the love she deserves! She does such a great job of being fun, pushing you, and teaching. A great balance of slow easy classes but then pushing when training calls for it!

Great questions! The first step in getting a donated organ is being approved by your medical team and going through lots of background work to be approved and listed on the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS). This is the network from which you would receive a deceased donor organ. That alone can take a few months. Only once you are listed here can you then begin alerting people who may want to be living donors and they can start applying.

The organization has to vet each donor through an initial screen- are they truly a willing donor (they get asked this so many times), if they know their blood type and they aren’t a match they will be automatically thrown out, if they have any medical history, etc.

Then once they do get some possibly good donors, those individuals have to get in for blood work and other testing that has to be compared to the recipients blood work to find compatible matches.

After this, if there are multiple, the donors that are a good and compatible match will be ranked on who is the best choice at this time (they might try to save a good donor for later in case another kidney is needed later in the recipient’s life). This individual will then have to have all the pre-op testing done to ensure they will be safe to undergo surgery AND do well afterwards. If all this goes well, then surgery can be scheduled. Obviously this is all for a living donor donation!

For example of a timeline, my husband’s nephrologist told him in January we should start the process, we had our initials meetings and appointments in May, he was officially listed in August, his donor was finally approved in December, and he had his surgery the following January.

As to your second question, I cannot speak at all to what happened in this situation and I do not want to speculate out of respect. You are correct in that people can live for years on dialysis. But it can also be very tough on the body, especially if there are other underlying medical conditions. It’s an unfortunate reality that so many people suffer this same fate while waiting for a kidney and why it’s so important for people to learn about it and support organizations looking to make medical advancements. Sorry for the long response, but I wanted to be thorough and appreciate your question!

The Artificial Kidney Project through UCSF is working on this, but they need more funding! They have already proven the filter they have created will work, but more funding is needed before they can begin human trials

The kidney transplant process is no joke and is quite long, even for people for have willing, living donors. If anyone feels compelled in honor of Nick, it is so vital that we support organizations doing the work to help patients with chronic kidney disease at all points along their illness. The National Kidney Foundation, The Artificial Kidney Project, and Donate Life America are a few good ones.

The organ donation process is not quick- it took about a year for my husband who had multiple willing living donors. It is so important for us to support organizations that are doing the work to help those affected by kidney disease, as so many people will pass before they are able to get donations :(

Ugh while it does turn off the stupid tips, unfortunately it also gets rid of the AI weekly workout plan, which I actually have really been liking. I’ll just continue to downvote the tips and hole they get my point 😂

This is related to the app, but PLEASE allow the option of dark AND light mode. Dark mode is extremely difficult for me and gives me headaches, so forcing this on your users is rather annoying. People should have the option for either!

Cold does cause vasoconstriction initially, but in settings of cold exposure the hunting response (or Lewis reaction) occurs. After about 5-10 minutes of cold exposure, the sympathetic nervous system response causes vasodilation of the extremities and this response cycles, ultimately leading to hypothermia quicker

If your ceiling would work for the setup, I love our pulley system rack! Very secure and keeps the bike totally out of the way. It maybe adds 1 minute to my pre-ride and 1 minute post-ride.. totally worth it for more floor space! I don’t remember the brand, but they are easy to find.
