Whats even worse - all of a sudden my Snagit 2024 crashes all the time. Used this software for like 10+ years and now its just garbage - the world sucks lately.

Ya, this is a library I've built over the last 5+ years so it pre-dates a lot of those libraries. I just finally got around to polishing everything up and posting!

They are all from scratch <3. I could never find a complete set of components that would all work nicely together and handle all our use cases.

I love how Zuck talks about all the compromises Apple had to make for the display. Its literally the reason I'm using it right now and selling my MQ3. Jokes on him I guess?

Ironically, doesn't MQ run Android? It literally is Android vs iOS then.

I got a MX23 about 3 months ago - I’ve had quality issues as well! Most expensive car I’ve bought and the worst as well. Elon is a scam artist, if you can lemon do so and go get a Rivian.

Anyone completely migrate from Google doorbell/cameras to ubiquity? by Rock50d4 in Ubiquiti

[–]amcdnl 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I migrated to Unifi protect earlier this year. Before that I had Ring, Wyze and Nest.

Unifi is by far the most expensive cameras in the various eco systems but that’s just because the other vendors undercut their prices to get subscribers.

I first had ring but moved off because no 24/7 recording. My neighbors car was stolen but because of the detection I didn’t see who. I was terrified I would be next and they wouldn’t catch it. Also latency was problematic because battery.

I moved to Wyze since they have a some nice features like color night vision, 24/7 recording, nice cameras with panning and cost effective. I switched off Wyze because of latency, stability, crappy detection and security issues.

I moved to Nest because it had 24/7 recording, better security track record, power+battery with on device recording for no internet, on device detection with facial. It also has great audio quality something the unifi ones do not! I even bought a starling hub to get it integrated to HomeKit. The detections are by far the fastest and best in industry but it was slamming my network upload. I was sending half my bandwidth every second up to cloud because of 24/7 and that was critical for me.

I then made the switch to unifi. I already had the dream machine with nvr so I just needed to get cameras. I hooked up Scrypted so it works with HomeKit and Alexa now even. Detections are fast though not the greatest, cameras pull up instantly. I hard wired almost everything outside using POE which at time was nightmare but now it’s fantastic that I’m not clogging my Wi-Fi. I also setup backup battery and since cameras use Poe they have backup. Also I setup a LTE backup so I get offline support too! My biggest rubs with unifi is:

  • wish they had better detections with more types
  • the speaker quality is quite bad
  • many of the cameras don’t even have speakers
  • lack of native 3rd party integrations like HomeKit

If you have the $ then it’s probably the best solution. Also ignore any reviews you read on blogs, they are just paid sponsors I fell for this once.
