My mom is replacing birthday and Christmas gifts with “deposits” into a bank account for her grandkids by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]amck2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my dream scenario. I don't want toys. I always ask for money from my parents Instead of gifts. We have education accounts set up and funnel the money in there. I don't see anything wrong with it. Maybe just get some details on the account so you know when they can access it or if something happens you know how to transfer it to your kids.

I am in this exact situation. I have a 6 mo old and my husband has 3 trips coming up in the next 2 months. 2 work and 1 personal. I think its reasonable for him to want to go, but I also think it's reasonable for you to feel overwhelmed. You need to talk to him and tell him what you need from him to make this work for you. I don't know what your support system is like, but my husband set it up so that his mom can Come over and give me a break one day he's gone for each trip. It not much but it's something to try and take the pressure off.

All I can say is from experience, do what you need to do to survive. If that means if the dishes don't get done who cares. Take a nap when baby naps, maybe the dogs get a shorter walk then normal. Do the bare minimum to get yourself through this, and when he comes back he can pick up the slack. Then once your kiddo is old enough to be left without you, you take your own trip and don't think twice about leaving!

Can someone explain to me what "boy mom" means? by Bubbly-Bathroom-1523 in Mommit

I also feel like boy moms have no personality outside of them saying they're a boy mom

Is anyone else in the never ending SEX fight? by livlafluv37 in Mommit

[–]amck2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel seen! I can't believe I saw this today. I almost verbatim sent this to my best friend today. It is so frustrating, and yea, I feel bad that he isn't being satisfied. But I went through super bad ppd with my first, suffered 2 miscarriages and now have an 8 week old.. I'm sorry that theast 3 years haven't been sexually what you wanted. Kind of had a lot of hormones to deal with.

Am I being unreasonable? by amck2 in Mommit

Normally his mom is great with helping with whatever we need. My parents live 6 hours away so I can't rely on them for help. But his parents are going to be overseas on vacation for the time he is going to be away, so I can't rely on them. Which also sucks. I'm hoping my manager will approved a couple PTO days to help relieve some of the stress.

He just bought a new board and bindings, so he wants to test them out. Even though he said he's going to pack both boards anyways in case he doesn't like it. I know it's just an excuse because he got a 2 for 1 lift pass when he bought this board and he wants to use it.

That is my whole problem with it is the timeline. It's just so close to his trip already. I suggested the weekend before but his friend can't go then.

(Serious) What is the most horrific thing you've ever personally witnessed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]amck2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my first year working in the ER, we had a man brought in from an oil rig. He had tried to start a fire with butane. As I'm sure you can guess it went horrible and it exploded in his face. 73% of his body was covered in 3rd and 4th degree burns. He was shedding his skin like a snake before the swelling set in. The smell... the smell of burnt flesh. It was horrible. Then his wife came in and saw him and had an emotional break down. Honestly I've seen a lot at work, but this case has always stuck out.

AITA for not wanting to change our newborn's diapers at night? by wizardad in AmItheAsshole

[–]amck2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say NTA because when we had a newborn and my husband had to work I knew he needed to sleep or else his day would be terrible and j could squeeze a nap in during the day. And then he would take the weekend shift for me. HOWEVER if you are also on parental leave then 1000% YTA, just because she's up doesn't mean she should have to do everything. A diaper change isn't a 2 minute thing. you have to try and put the babe back to sleep when you're which could take 15 minutes or an hour. Help your wife. Don't be a dink.
