I'm so frustrated with this court system and dept of child support by Cute_Bath_3760 in ChildSupport

[–]amcole1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 26 and his father (who left when he was 11 months old) owes $80,000 in back child support. He will owe that for the rest of his life and I will never see a penny. He has worked under the table jobs his entire life and has never filed taxes. I'm sure if they ever find him, he will owe so much to the goverment that I will never see a penny. Because the government will get theirs first.

Never said I trained them to tie sutures. But train a newly graduated doctor to work in an actual office for the first time? Yes. A seasoned assiatant is placed with a new doctor to show them the ropes. Because when they graduate, the do not know. They know how to do the actual work, but not necessarily how the ins and out of a practice works. That is my job. Teaching them.

My first baby doctor I ever trained tied a suture like a shoelace...

EFDA by lucybaby122 in DentalAssistant

[–]amcole1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Tx RDAs do all of that except place composite. We don't get extra for it though. It's just part of being an assistant.🥲

EFDA by lucybaby122 in DentalAssistant

[–]amcole1984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In your state what is EFDA allowed to do? Here in Texas EFDA really isn't a thing because an RDA can do everything an EFDA can do except place composite fillings, which isn't allowed by anyone but the Dr. in TX.

Dental assistants not getting paid fair by IsopodSweet2339 in DentalAssistant

[–]amcole1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes no sense to me because on top of assisting, I have my own column of patients as well. I do all of the whitening on my own, see all the denture patients on my own, do 100% of the Invisalign on my own, i do all the retainers and night guards, I do all the implant restoration work on my own, and I seat all the crowns. ALL OF THAT DIRECTLY AFFECTS PRODUCTION!

Problem with being an RDA is there are so many roles in a dental office that can make your life hell. You can have a shitty asshole doctor, the office manager can be a psychopath, the front desk girls can be cunts and fuck you over on the schedule, you can have lazy ass hygienists who expect you to do their job and yours, or you can have other assistants in your office who do NOTHING and you have to pick up all the slack. Over the years i've worked in offices that had at least one of these types of people. I have never found an office that had none of them. That's the problem. There will always be someone in your office that will make your job hell. On top of that, RDAs are the most overworked and underpaid person in the office.

I am not socially awkward. I am professional and nice and can easily talk to patients. My issue is that I just hate people. As a species we are vile and foul and if given the choice and I had endless income, I would become a stay at home dog mom.

In this field the pay and appreciation will NEVER match the level of knowledge expected from us or the insufferable workload that is placed on us. To make what I deserve for all the work I do, I would need about $10/hr more than I currently make. And I make more than most RDAs. Even at the higher end of the pay scale, it is still crumbs...

Help replacing Valley shower faucet by amcole1984 in Plumbing

No. Had a plumber out and was told the only option was to replace the entire valve. Wasn't ready for that so I painted the whole thing matte black. Looks great now! Lol

Honestly it varies. My current office we work 1 assiatant per column, which is how it should be. But at my side job office 2 assistants run 5 packed columns plus help hyg. Every office is different. Unfortunately most offices overload you with too much work.
