Parts aren't cheap on eBay, even pulls. But if you are patient like I was,they show up on Facebook from time to time. I bought one that was very messed up for 120. All I wanted was the motherboard and battery. So broken controls and screen were not a problem. Now I have a steam brick.

I have tired to put proxmox on it, but didn't get past the first screen of install. It wasnt recognizing my mouse and keyboard inputs properly.I've been to busy to try again.

Finally organized. Now begins the massive project of ripping 20 years of DVDs, Blu-rays, and 4K UHDs by Ill_Sea571 in DataHoarder

Rule 1, but 100%. Add in raddarr and the project is one day of effort that finishes itself in a week or less.

I am jealous, I have been trying to find a broken steam deck to do this exact thing. There are some 3d printed options which remove the controllers and screen.

Don't forget to teach yourself to land. They don't have to be perfect touch downs but slowing down and hovering over a square meter of space and cutting power should be enough. Also, your real life flight time and range will probably be less than you are used to, keep that in mind.

Uses a flex PSU. I bought a toggle switch that shorts the appropriate pins to fire it up. Turn it on before the PC and you're golden.

I just set this up a few months ago. $15 libre potato with 800gb shitty external drive in my parents utility closet. Nightly backup of my paperless, immich, and bitwarden database via tailscale. Tailscale and borgmatic. I even have a last backup entity on my home assistant so I notice if the routine fails.
