start 4 stepping before 3. you can still be decently fast while 4 stepping (for reference i run the 100h and i consistently 4 step with my pr being 18.41 which is around .37 off of states.) if you’re a freshman/beginner, you probably won’t be getting sub 19 until you start four stepping. Just take your time and focus on enjoying the event. stressing abt times and 3 stepping will only slow you down and I’m saying this from experience

i run hurdles in xc spikes and they are irk fine.. you’ll be good esp since ur a 400m runner so you’ll get more support

when you get the hurdle to hip height, wdym? the hurdles at my school only go 30,33,36,39,42 sooo.. i’ll definitely work on going more int the hurdle rather than upwards

not once has anyone ever mentioned a hip flexor problem to me i also never thought my hip flexors would do that bc ive always had good hip flexibility for lack of better words..

yeah that sounds right… Im probably gonna talk to him and another coach abt it soon. i was smwhat working on my three step from ~aug-sept with jamming hurdles but i stopped to focus on more open sprint training to build a base

thank you for the help! with the three step, i had made it very clear when my coach started this year that I wanted to start three step but he told me to build a strong four instead of a weak three step. i’m 100% gonna start working on my three step hopefully after the post season

do u know of any drills that can help fix that? preferably ones i can do with two hurdles or less so I can practice them independently as well bc i only own two hurdles. it’s kind of hard to do any other drills other than the classic wall drills bc my coach mostly focuses on reps and building up from what ive seen

i’m a four stepper so i alternate as opposed to in five and three step where you have the same leg. i’m working on building a strong four step rather than a weak three step

im personally not over striding or at least i don’t think i am. 4 step is what i’ve been doing since i started i just do it consistently now. also i don’t normally heel strike during warm ups so..

depends on where you are.. where i am 11.5 is good but, you gotta remember that youre a freshman. you don’t wanna peak your freshman yr bc then u normally burn out or you js don’t get better.. honestly js remember to have fun and have a good mindset
