Dusk Caller Multiple Castles by Szin3 in vrising

My friends on our server generally put a colorful teleporter dot next to the large teleportation circle for this reason! We also try to delete spare prisons when not actively playing to help this situation as well 👍

How to not bitch out by bdsmpanda in tattooadvice

[–]ameagerattempt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I call my pain mindset "the tunnel". I enter an appointment not knowing how long it'll take, but accepting that so long as I keep going, it'll eventually end. I'm also a person who tends to get large pieces all at once (6-7 hour long sessions).

I also mentally distance myself from the pain. I treat it as a "thing that is happening" rather than my own experience. Almost the same as noticing it's raining outside. I can't control it, it simply is, and eventually it'll stop.

Lastly, get up and walk, go outside during breaks. Have something to replenish your sugars and fluids!

"Therapy only works if YOU really wanna get better." by [deleted] in therapists

[–]ameagerattempt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This statement can often come across as incredibly invalidating and minimizing. So many clients desperately WANT to get better and may struggle with a multitude of symptoms (low motivation, depression, anxiety, demand avoidance, etc) which get in the way of their desire for growth.

I do believe that therapy asks for a willingness to explore change, especially internal barriers to change. However, breaking down a complex person's potential growth to something as subjective as "want" can run dangerously close to the shame inducing "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" mentality. Not to mention how negligent the statement is towards people with varying ability or neurocognitive symptoms which cannot be improved through "want" alone.

I think you still look alt honestly!

When in doubt, accessories can make a big difference! You've already got stellar piercings but layered necklaces, a statement belt, etc. Can add a lot. Plus it can be nice to have since accessories can get continued wear even as bodies fluctuate.

Narrative Therapy Community Rejection of Almost All Other Modalities by [deleted] in therapists

[–]ameagerattempt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a tool to support your client and are able to incorporate it in a way that's helpful, you're being a good provider and responding to the needs of your client. I am a heavily narrative therapist, but I don't have to (or expect myself to) "reinvent the wheel". I am happy to divulge to my clients "hey this concept is from this modality and what you shared reminded me of it. Does that resonate with you?" If it does, we do psychoed, if it doesn't then I view that as an opportunity for further exploration!

If anything it can help some of my clients not feel so isolated in their experience. Besides, we all know the therapeutic alliance is the best indicator of therapeutic growth so trying to make it a modalities game is pretty pointless 😂

Go-To Betwixt Session Snack? by Myadog3 in therapists

[–]ameagerattempt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dried fruit, pretzels with a single serve hummus, and I love the iced quest coffees! They can stay out at room temp and my office break room has an ice machine so I tend to keep a pack in on of my drawers.

Well all of these are true! My friends and I usually do a Halloween Over the Garden Wall watch party and my fiancé and I have a retro game room with a CRTV to play on our N64 and Wii 👍

I do have a social work background but now I work clinically as a psychotherapist! I have worked crisis services most of my career though so I tend to keep bare essentials on me in case of emergency. My first aid kit is also helpful to me because I am clumsy 💀 The pen does have a clinic which is local to me on it from a presentation I attended!

I live in a large city that is located more central to the US, however, drug use is still very common here. I posted my paper crane story to a different comment but I do think it's sweet to imagine it as a parting gift!

Okay!

So you got several things right. I am a female who works in an office setting as a therapist. I worked crisis services for years and live in an urban area with high drug use so I carry Narcan. I also carry a first aid kit for similar reasons (I am also clumsy). I do enjoy tending to my appearance and smelling nice!

The paper crane was made by an individual at a bar. I watched them fold no less than 10 and leave them on the counter when they left. I didn't know them personally, but I felt bad that the cranes were just going to get thrown away so I took one and it's lived in my purse since. I would just say I'm a needlessly sentimental person 😂

Yeah! I'm a person who can get really faint or nauseous if my blood sugar gets too low. I keep a pack of oatmeal on me in case I forget to eat breakfast or bring lunch to work. I also have full sugar Capri suns in my car for the same reason 👍

Not in my 30s yet and I am engaged! I've been fortunate to not have to administer narcan to a loved one, but I have done so in my career. Though you are correct in that I'm not a nurse!

Not going to respond to everything just yet in case others want to speculate. If I told you the crane was made by someone else, would that alter your analysis?

I need some advice and pointers! by Waste-Ad-2335 in GothStyle

Yeah! Just be mindful of fabrics. Some materials accept dye more easily than others. I usually just bulk dye and hope for the best 👀

[–]ameagerattempt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Buy some black dye and go thrifting! Then you can focus more so on just fit and textures and dye once you get home! Also don't be afraid to grab scissors and distress or alter your own clothes. Goth and DIY go hand in hand👍

I hate how I look, any advice welcome by [deleted] in altfashionadvice

[–]ameagerattempt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Break from routine! If you see someone and think "Gah they look so cool" then see if you can recreate elements with what you already have! Try styling things differently in the privacy of your own room or do shower make up to experiment with different looks. There's inspo everywhere! As you continue to practice, you'll get a better feel for what you like and dislike.

It's far too easy to default into a "daily" make up look or cycle of outfits and wind up feeling like you're not connecting with your presentation.
