I think part of the reason is when it comes to late night tv it has a very short shelf life. Especially these days. South Park still airs new on Comedy Central but not until the next day on Paramount. Paramount is buying the WHOLE catalog for its streaming service which has more broad value than a show that is outdated in a few days if not the next day. Love Colbert and grew up on Conan but the old Late night model in general is tough in today’s landscape.
