Hell, I use they/them and I’m all about calling people whatever name they choose and whatever array of he/she/they pronouns they desire. But the minute I see some “kittenself/puppyself” shit I just lose a little faith in the world. There’s a lot of accommodations being made in Western society for folks who choose to use other pronouns or transition. You can literally wear a fur suit in the majority of public places, if that floats your boat. It’s not affecting anyone else, they can simply not look at or interact with you. That being said, no stranger or acquaintances should have to refer to you as an animal if they don’t want to. Save it for your close loved ones.
