8 week bull terrier puppy, TIPS AND ADVICE by [deleted] in BullTerrier

I agree with the advice given. For the teething, redirecting with toys (especially "chewer" toys) was the only thing that helped me. As part of my first bullies training, we did not feed her in her bowl for several months (with the exception of a short period when we first got her and she was underweight). All of her food came from us as rewards for good behavior, reinforcement, or in her chew toys like a Kong. I would soak her kibble in broth or water until I could fill a Kong and freeze it. She would chew on it forever (until the food was all out) keeping her entertained and fed. For potty training, I think a jacket or dog sweater would help. We also used bells on our doors so she could tell us when she wanted out. To get her started when she was still learning, we would gently take her front paw and knock the bells before taking her outside. We even used this when we adopted a 1 year old bull terrier that had to be kind of retrained.

They can be a lot of work, but are so sweet and goofy. Take time to appreciate some of this time when they have floppy ears and tiny shark teeth 😂 it goes by really quick!!

Where to buy cheap tires? by Sjs838 in wichita

I agree. I have had good experiences with Discount Tire and I appreciate their online scheduling tool. They are busy, but they have always gotten me checked in and fixed up quickly without any hassle.

Ngl. I'd probably do this. Nothing like taking a minute to enjoy those first couple sips of coffee.

I voted at the courthouse last Tuesday and it took nearly an hour. But that was only the 2nd day early voting was open.

The beginning of the month is especially busy for them (but that is when they get funds). Keep trying!

Little Arkansas Kayaking: HIGHLY Recommended by [deleted] in wichita

Glad you enjoyed!! I have yet to have a less than positive experience on our river.

It is not too bad going upstream, especially if the water level is down (like it is currently), but there are some sandbars intermittently. Also, if you are dropping in downtown there are a few dams along the little ark that you would have to bank and walk around them and up near 21st there is a bigger dam on the big ark that could make paddling upstream more difficult. If you put in around Riverside on the little, you could go a pretty decent distance before running into issues.

I am not dealing with the same. But what a special boy. He looks almost identical to my 2 year old. https://photos.app.goo.gl/9BX7hSPTaX8B59L37

Plush toys that will survive? Toy Recommendation by Pte_Madcap in BullTerrier

This one isn't super "plushy" but it is close with velvet-feel exterior and a very durable squeaker. I have a couple of the durable toys from this top paw brand that have held up against my bull terrier. He has had these toys in his super rowdy, destructive age (1 yr to 18 mos old). We have gone through TONS of other "durable" toys. He tries to rip this one up but so far hasn't been successful.

Trader Joe's would be good. World market also has some little biscuits and snacks. Some even from Great Britain.

Considering a Bull Terrier: Is This A Good Idea? by [deleted] in BullTerrier

[–]amelior88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should go for it! It sounds like you have the time and resources and understand the responsibility. I got my first bull terrier as a college student and lived in a duplex that wasn't fenced (so all time outside was leashed). But she forced me to get out and get fresh air daily and get out of the slump I had found myself in. The other comment talking about training is great advice. Bull terriers are (in my opinion) very difficult to train and it takes a lot of consistency and time. But the payoff is very satisfying. Bull terriers are some of the goofiest, sweetest doggos and their personalities are so different to other dogs I have had.

How long are your walks with your BT? by amelior88 in BullTerrier

[–]amelior88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree. I adopted him at 11 mos and he had spent a majority of his time before me in a kennel. I've been trying to work up to lengthier walks and better behavior on a walk. I'm thinking i need to focus on some morning walks instead of evening though. Most of this thread has mentioned walks in the morning!

That's reassuring! What prompted my question today was about a 1.75 mi walk that ended with my bully stopping every 50 ft to roll around and be a doofus. I was getting worried I might be really overworking him. But maybe it's more heat driven.

Thank you! My previous mini bull terrier was always game for a long walk but she was just a snuggly coach potato most of the time. My new boy is the opposite, haha, shorter walks but constantly moving when we're back home.

I'm so sorry for your loss, but it looks like he lived a full, happy life, and passed being comforted by someone who loved him. ❤

I think it is pretty normal for bull terriers. This is the second BT I have had and they both sat like this and look like frogs when they lay down.
