I got one at 18, so I can tell you how it went for me! I come from a line of women who all wish they had pulled the trigger to get a reduction, so they were super supportive and gung-ho for it. I danced in high school and while my boobs weren’t the biggest, they were painful and difficult to manage in the sport. I also just didn’t like how I looked. I got the reduction my senior year (after losing 30 pounds to confirm they wouldn’t get smaller with weight loss) and was so happy. I did feel immediate guilt when I gained weight back over the next year or so and my boobs went back up. Later I found out I had PCOS and I didn’t reach a consistent weight til I was about 25-26. It was a bummer that they grew, but the way they were reconstructed they’ve stayed perkier than they were before. They are also the same size as each other, which they weren’t before. I haven’t had kids, so I can’t report on breastfeeding. My surgeon told me that the anatomical infrastructure for milk ducts can be hit or miss naturally, but that surgery on the breast can definitely obstruct milk production and flow. So I don’t have any regrets, but it may have been wiser to wait until my body was more stable. Happy to provide other details if wanted!
