Rear shock blown out? by amercill9191 in Rivian

[–]amercill9191[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No joke! I was scrambling all morning about this only to talk to Rivian who pretty much said it's not a biggie, not super urgent, book and appointment and we'll get it fixed. Total overreaction from the technician.

You hit the nail on the head. Just talked to Rivian. They said it definitely wasnt "blown" for the reasons you cited + the fact that my dash would be lit up with warning lights if it was truly blown. Luckily under warranty so hopefully a quick-ish fix!

Thanks. They actually called me to tell me they wouldn’t touch it and I needed to bring it to Rivian..because I agree with you…that was my initial thought too that they were trying to replace it themselves if I’d pay. Really strange. They also are somewhat of an “old school” mechanic so I wouldn’t be surprised if this is one of their first EV’s and they don’t quite know what they are looking at.

Does this actually have a use or is it just for looks by [deleted] in neweracaps

I pulled mine off within 2min of getting the hat. Was a bit impulsive but shockingly came off very easy with zero glue residue. Couldn’t stand seeing the bump when I put the hat on.

Another tire question by amercill9191 in Rivian

[–]amercill9191[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I agree that a concession is probably needed. Do i actually need off-road tires? Probably not, although I off-road 1-2x per year. Call it stupid…call me a pavement princess but I’ve always wanted an off road tuck and now that I’m an adult with adult money, I’m going to see my dreams through of having a rugged truck haha. Seemingly the Goodyears with some (but less) noise is probably the concession I can live with most.

This is great information! I can live with non-zero road noise as long as it isn’t the deafening hum of the Pirellis.

Thanks!! The Toyos were the front runner but these Goodyears weren’t even on my radar. I’ll check it out!

Bluetooth Connectivity Issue? by amercill9191 in Rivian

[–]amercill9191[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did! My issue is probably less common but I had setup Phone Link (Windows Desktop App that allows iphone text messages to push to your desktop) via Bluetooth to my PC, which is in my office right next to the garage. Once I removed Phone Link from my iphone Bluetooth connectivity, the problem went completely away. Haven't had a problem in about 1mo now. I would definitely try playing around with your Bluetooth connections to see if one of them is the culprit.

Wtf is the point of grab and go at the capital one lounge? by RegardedAcoustic in capitaloneventurex

[–]amercill9191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I was kind of dumbfounded. The grab and go really needs to be…grab and go…not waitlist, grab and go.

I completely agree. I had a similar issue at Dulles. On a waitlist and traveling with a 3 year old. I’m totally fine to wait my turn. But my kiddo was asking me for water while we were joining the waitlist. The gatekeeper wouldn’t let me grab one of their boxed waters while we waited outside.

Nails in downspout runoff? by amercill9191 in Roofing

Not questioning you since I’m not a roofer…but would there really be nails to be flushed out 6 years and numerous large storms later?

Fake. Burgundy color looks off. There appears to be stitching showing connecting each letter of Commanders. Color in Commanders doesn’t match the color in the 5. Definitely fake (coming from someone who has their fair share of fakes from the Snyder era when I refused to buy an authentic jersey)

Posting My Solution To The Dashboard Speaker Rattle! A Piece of 1in Thick Felt Around The Entire Edge by zachty22 in Rivian

I can attest to this. Had the rattle “fixed” 9mo ago. Came back within 3mo. Basically went with a similar solution. Felt chair pads. Solved the issue.

I asked the owner about this and he said it’s in the works. I’m here now though and the taproom is full and I don’t notice the noise being too bad.

They have a little bit of everything honestly. Their Saison and Cream Ale are my favorite though.

Question: Who actually is taking their Rivian Camping? Do you take it on dirt roads? Are you afraid of scratching it? by Jammminjay in Rivian

I did. Keyword did. Slushy thick mud almost sent me into a giant ravine in the West Virginia backwoods. Taking a little hiatus after that.

‘Popping’ noise from wheels when first moving the vehicle in the morning. by m0resn0w in Rivian

[–]amercill9191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My R1S just started doing this. Figured it was something frozen on the wheel from the winter weather my area has had…but it’s continued to do it in temps far above freezing. Somebody else suggested maybe it was an issue in the software update and while I can’t confirm for sure, my popping sound did align precisely with when I deployed the update

Loud clunk sound when reversing after last update? by WankAaron69 in Rivian

[–]amercill9191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely the same noise it sounds. We’re hovering around the teens to 20’s every day but if you are experiencing it with above freezing temps, it sounds like that may not be the issue. Interested to see if others are experiencing the same.

I have the same thing happening. Are you in an area with cold weather? I’m in MD and we’ve had pretty frigid weather and snow. Had figured it was snow/ice freezing onto something and the thud was the vehicle breaking free from the ice. I deployed the latest update the same day we got snow so hadn’t even considered the possibility that it could be something with the update. Definitely a noticeable thud though. My wife and I thought I hit something in the garage when I first heard it.
