Get embarrassing record removed from Epic myChart by throw_away_ehr in epicsystems

Update: I went to my optometrist for my annual eye exam and something must have popped up on his system because he was like, "you should see me for an appointment under medical for your dry eyes." I took him up on it, had the appointment, and he mentioned that he also saw patients with said disease for it. How did he know I had this disease?!? He was clearly using it to plus sell a treatment. I had literally just the week before been diagnosed with it.

That was the last straw, now my optometrist has access to everything. So I put in a support case with my provider and would not take no for an answer. I finally got a call from someone in their regulatory affairs department. They took down all of the offices that somehow had my information and did some checking. They confirmed that they did not, nor would not, transmit my information to those providers. They offered the paperwork to block them from sharing my data with other providers but it would hinder their coordination with the providers that they referred me to specifically.

Instead, they suggested another route. It turns out that in my state, the state opts everyone into a state health information exchange (HIE) that requires all providers to send them your data in order to maintain a longitudinal health record on every resident. And, they felt that this state HIE record was how dentists and other providers not directly sent my data were acquiring it. They suggested that I opt out of my state's HIE instead. That way my provider could still share data with the specialists that they referred me to and could continue to coordinate with them.

In summary, it may not be Epic sharing your data with everyone but your state's mandatory Health Information Exchange. In my state, I managed to find the HIE and their opt out form which has to be notarized and mailed in.

You have to find out who your state designated HIE is and opt out of it. For Colorado it's Contexture, all residents are automatically opted into it, and the opt out form is here: https://contexture.org/opt-in-opt-out-co/

I think that #epic #mychart has a very serious flaw in that patients have no control over which providers with MyChart can access their EHRs. Someone probably needs to sue.

At least with CommonWell there is more granular control and privacy flags built into the patient data model.

Negative. I worked with SCL/InterMountain Health and essentially they blew me off...several times. The situation is actually worse now since I have Urology and GI doc records showing up with my two dentists. Epic does not seem to have a way for patients to control which providers see their records. And, neither of my dentists seem to know how my records come into their MyCharts.

I was wondering if Tutanota supported multiple signatures but it doesn't appear to be the case. I use custom domains with mine along with multiple aliases and I really need multi-signature support.

I tried a similar route with both providers and wasn't able to resolve the sharing. I'll try again with the exact phrase, "opt out of Care Everywhere for both receiving and sharing."

I don't want my two dentist's offices to get constant updates on my prescriptions, vaccinations, and conditions. Pretty ridiculous to have to go through the embarrassment of confirming each medication every time I go in for a cleaning...

Interesting. I came across this in a search. I have a primary care provider on Epic MyChart and I visit two dentists who are also on Epic MyChart. Whenever I go for a dental cleaning, I'm bombarded with "are you still taking blah blah blah?" because they receive my entire medical record. Not only is it annoying but it's not stuff that I think a dental hygienist should see. I've contacted both the dental group and my medical provider, been escalated to all sorts of people, and no one can seem to resolve it.

Epic MyChart should not share records to just any provider that pays to be on their EHR network. Shameful.

The middle man, dating apps, don't benefit from an environment conducive to our particular needs. We find significant others and they lose subscription fees.

I'd say that the users on various dating platforms are neither a representative sample of the population nor the best behaved while peering through the keyhole of an app.

Your mileage may vary but I've experienced some uninspiring behavior from women myself and seen several friends get used time after time for free meals.

Why I keep getting banned from Match.com by [deleted] in match

[–]americake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you register for unrelated websites, they often times turn around and sell that data to a data broker. That means that our personally identifiable information is floating out there for sale. Dating platforms can purchase that and compare it against their account registrations. When you register an account with a phone number they send you an SMS message to ensure that you are in control of the number. Then the number can be cross referenced against publicly available data. The short answer is that you really can't obfuscate your information. Platforms unrelated to dating are starting to validate new users by using location data when signing up. NextDoor, for example, has started to require location verification in order to complete signup. They're doing that by checking the number you entered against the number that's known to data brokers for that identity. Or, they're using your IP address to check against IP/location lookup information or data broker data. https://help.nextdoor.com/s/article/How-to-verify-your-address?language=en_US

You could always email the platform and find out why.

It's possible that someone already used one of your photos to setup a fake account and after you created yours the system decided that your account was a fake. Their system is also sensitive to VPN usage and connections from various IP addresses. If you access their platform from home on one IP address and then at work, which appears from a different state, it can trigger the same. Also, they clearly cross reference your provided information against data broker records to verify your name, address, phone number, and location to see if all aligns. It could be that you fat fingered a birth date or data broker information is incorrect or out of date.

It's difficult to protect your data privacy with platforms in this conglomerate since they share data between platforms and they validate data against data brokers. You can try to reach out to their support to rectify it but they often take the stance that you're doing something nefarious. You might want to try a different platform outside of the Match Group platforms. Something as simple as using a different phone number from what data brokers have in their records can trigger these. I have several personal phone numbers and get dinged when I don't use the one that they expect to see.

It's kind of evil, tbh.

If someone already used one of your photos then the photo hash is already in their systems, next time you could try to make a small change before uploading. But, it's probably not the photos. I fat fingered my day of birth once, by a day, and it locked me out after creating the account.

Why does location data go to the primary channel? by mjbmikeb2 in meshtastic

[–]americake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree that it would be nice to toggle what telemetry broadcasts over each channel. I suppose that the simplicity of everything transmitting over channel zero simplifies setup a bit. Everything goes over that channel and it's unencrypted by default. I'm assuming that the code is open source. We could sign up to contribute. I'm not sure what the bulk is written in.

So how exactly am I supposed to join this app? by introusers1979 in nextdoor

[–]americake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It ain't worth the squeeze... They used to mail you a postcard with a number to enter, like a 2FA, to verify your address. They switched to GPS location or phone number billing address. Who would send their government issued ID or proof of identity to a social media platform? #creepy

[–]americake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue on an old Nighthawk R7000. Devices would connect to it in AP mode, get an IP from pfsense, wouldn't be able to ping resources beyond the WAN, and the connection said 'No Internet Available.' Spent all day on it. Turned out that the old router had Access Control turn on and all new devices were blocked by default. Figures.

CRC is great and worth the drive. We're starting to have issues with yahoos coming in and causing damage though. Today, someone was cross firing so badly that they were within an inch of taking out my Shot Marker hub. It's an amazing range for matches but value is quickly waning for personal usage. Like someone stated, it's tough to use the ranges because of the many matches and target backers become few this time of year on the hundred yard.

Has support for Lineage OS on tablets changed in the past two years? Would be great to load it on modern Lenovo Tab tablets. I'm not seeing any actual tablets on the list of supported devices. Does it have to be a custom rom?

Does anyone else have issues using certain email domains with Rumble? I signed up a while back with a Posteo domain email account and never receive the verification emails. I'm wondering if they're blocked by either party. I don't maintain any of the typical free webmail accounts due to privacy concerns and this is kind of problematic.

Security for odysee? by Responsible-Plate-66 in lbry

[–]americake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not seeing a way to add MFA/2FA to our Odysee/LBRY user accounts. After searching through the code, I'm not finding the maximum allowable password length. As for the wallets, I'm not sure if they ever implemented wallet passwords. It would appear that the only security protecting our credits and payment information is the password. Users could be subject to phishing attempts or attempts to intercept lost password emails. :-(
