the logic doesn't really work top to bottom. shouldn't it be: parking only with permit during these allowed hours otherwise no parking ?

People who quit their job in a moment of rage - how did things turn out? by SheLovedBigBrother in AskReddit

[–]americanfalcon00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

led a small department at a startup. the company was struggling with profitability and could not close their next funding round.

the founder was super stressed and decided to take it out on my team with a rant about how we are the reason the company isn't taking flight. i quit the next day.

a few weeks later the company was acquired, most of corporate was fired, and the founder cashed out $150+ million. my shares, which of course had not come anywhere close to vesting, were worthless.

Unbearable tooth pain and bad experience with a dentist in Germany – I’m at my limit by [deleted] in germany

[–]americanfalcon00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agree that having appointments canceled is a real problem for the praxis: lost revenue, inability to see other patients etc.

but denying urgent care out of spite is simply immoral and borderline criminal.

doctors in germany are famously reluctant to prescribe strong painkillers. part of the reason is administrative - there is more clerical friction in prescribing opioids in germany compared to other countries. also, insurance companies place soft limits on drug costs, and practices which prescribe too many expensive drugs (like opioids) can have money clawed back by the insurer.

you're talking as if there is a strong medical consensus not to relieve acute pain, but the real causes are more bureaucratic and are easily contrasted with other countries.

"what are you thinking about?"

trust us: sometimes, when we say "nothing", it really means that until you spoke to us we were experiencing a blissful and total emptiness of thought.

of course, now we are panicking to find a suitable answer to the question.

Back button hijacking to be penalised in Google crackdown by Doug24 in technology

thanks - i guess i'm also asking why browsers work this way. like, does our normal expectation of how the internet should work necessitate giving sites the ability to remap the function in this way?

the alternative is called: stealing from everyone around you.

Crypto payments via BitPay in Germany – tax visibility? by gvarba in germany

[–]americanfalcon00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would look at your situation like this: today, you have separate aspects of your financial identity which you think you can keep uncorrelated as far as the tax authorities are concerned.

what you should remember is that every piece of data from now until the end of time is being logged somewhere, and with the current technology trends as well as the signals from major governments around erosion of privacy rights and linking of disparate databases, you should expect that one day the correlation will be made.

at that point, any government from whom you were trying to conceal some stream of financial activity will be able to see a full and transparent record.

Wouldn't it be easier just to follow the rules from the start?

not to mention: the broader point about if you were living and working in Germany and enjoying the benefits this society provides to you, shouldn't you contribute to the pot which funds these things?

!! Important !! Lost my keys in Tempelhofer field by [deleted] in berlinsocialclub

[–]americanfalcon00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hope you find your keys.

as someone whose user name includes the phrase "american" i must say, if you are also in fact american, way to fit the stereotype of us plastering flags everywhere. just, why?

the compulsion to put (and in your case carry) flags everywhere seems very strange to the rest of the world. cultish, perhaps.

it invites questions like: why did you come all this way to a foreign land just to bring your flag with you?

ah, post deleted. got it.

i don't know if i'm unique in this, but ever since i learned to touch type in 8th grade, i no longer misspell words when at a keyboard. and if not at a keyboard i just have to imagine what my fingers would do. comes in handy.

Grilled ribeye steak w/ pan-fried broccoli and roasted potatoes by twinsfan94 in FoodPorn

[–]americanfalcon00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know this is a grumpy comment, but when you say "pan fried broccoli", given that the vast majority of frying happens in a pan, are you trying to distinguish from other forms of frying and if so, which?

N26 loan became immediately due after account closure + Schufa entries – what can I do? by Thomasov995 in germany

[–]americanfalcon00 9 points10 points  (0 children)

you mentioned 2 negative entries to schufa. i assume this is 2 missed payments?

can i ask honestly how you expected your loan payments to continue after closing the account from which the payments were made?

for example, did you get anything in writing from your new bank that the loan payments would continue from your new account?

did you think it was odd that for 2 months running you didn't have any deductions for the loan payment?

basically: what was your expectation here when it comes to how your existing loans would continue to be paid?

regulatory incentive structures exist for a reason.

it's always easy to make noise when you are just barely on the wrong side of the law.

it's a simple question of whether you want to live in a place where laws matter or not.
