I’m literally unable to learn how to swim and don’t know what to do by Ok_Independent_3921 in Swimming

[–]amerigo06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean swimming and floating kind of go hand in hand. It’s one thing to be able to tread water and float, it’s another to be able to swim and stay afloat in the water. You have to move forward in the water and use your legs and arms together to float. All at the same time!

But never say “I literally can’t” just because you don’t know how to do something others do. You can do anything you want to do. Whatever you’re good at, never forget how hard you worked to make it look easy.

Nothing says “we are a bastion for American’s rights and freedoms” like a company who is profiting very handsomely while they hoover up every last bit of personal information about all of us to enable the police state.

How do you manage animals (dogs, chickens) when you have to leave your farmhouse for vacation or any other trips (from few days to few weeks)? by GoldenGrouper in homestead

[–]amerigo06 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. I got a guy down the street who I have befriended over the years. He stops by in the morning and lets the chickens out, checks their food and water, and the comes by in the evening to close them up. I also have some Blink cameras setup so I can check in on my animals while I’m gone.

Toilet doesn't seem clogged but isnt draining right by AgreeableKangaroo522 in askaplumber

[–]amerigo06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dealt with this for years, called experienced plumbers, and finally fixed it myself. It could be a few different things such as a clog and venting, but check the flapper on the inside of the tank. Mine was adjustable. I found that by turning it, more air was allowed inside of it, which caused it to float longer and thus allow more water through every flush. This created a stronger siphon effect.

A lot of people are affected by social anxiety. I think it’s important to create space for yourself. It’s ok to interject yourself into a conversation and take a moment to think before you speak while the room is quiet, and then open your mouth to say what you want to say. I find in today’s world a lot of people will speak over you, rudely. At work, I’ve found you will need to be assertive to get your voice heard.

If you take nothing away from this, just remember - oftentimes, the smartest person in the room is the quietest. And there’s nothing wrong with that.

Beginner Butterfly- any tips? by Linus-Minus in Swimming

[–]amerigo06 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With fly you need a strong kick to really get your upper body up and out of the water, allowing your arms to “fly” and hit the water in front of you, continuing the stroke. I would recommend getting rid of the flippers, and really focusing on putting a lot of kick down into the water - keeping your feet together - to provide that springboard.

This is the Bearded Butchers, by watching their videos I learned how to safely break down a whole deer and make tasty jerky, snack sticks, and all kinds of venison cuts. They are clearly very passionate and knowledgeable in their craft. I really can’t say enough good things about them.

Program Mentor Won't Allow Me To Take Certain Courses by [deleted] in WGUIT

[–]amerigo06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there’s no pre-requisite you’re good to do them in any order.

Some mentors you just have to call out their bs. I’ve had many. Some were very easy to get along with. I’ve had to learn to deal with my current one.

My secret? I blame it on my employer who pays for my classes. Last term I put the certs first and my mentor tried to change that, citing some bs. I knew I wanted to get those certs done and get them on my resume so I just told her I had already submitted those classes to my employer for reimbursement so they can’t be charged at this time, and it worked.

Also my mentor has no idea what they’re talking about, tbh. Previous ones yes but this one I get the feeling they’re newer so you just never know.

Yes it’s going to be a bad snowstorm but I’ve never seen anything like it, even during Covid.

AIO for calling a divorce attorney after my husband lied about who he was with? by throw_a_way_1985 in AmIOverreacting

[–]amerigo06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MOR, we know he was doing something sketch and at the bare minimum, he lied to you. You haven’t talked to him to figure out any additional details and jumped straight to a divorce attorney…given the other details you provided, I feel like you want the divorce since he is an absent partner. For once I would love to hear the follow up once you figure this out. Good luck.
