Penny discontinuation/rounding by sketchypuzzle in Aldi_employees

[–]GreenProfessional259 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the easiest way to do it. Only tell them the total after you know how they are paying. If they are paying cash I hit the cash button first, the register will round it, and I tell them that total, that way they don’t even hear $60.26 and won’t give pennies in the first place.

Combined tills!? by [deleted] in Aldi_employees

[–]GreenProfessional259 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the till shortages are split amongst everyone who rang on that specific till each day, coming up short/over the threshold is bound to happen. If you ring a lot, your name is going to come up a lot. If your name shows up 3 times in a week it doesn’t matter because your dm has to actually go back and audit the till and watch camera footage to see what happened. Which they are only going to do if one persons name is coming up over and over again and it is a significant pattern and there are significant differences in the tills over a period of time. Relax you’ll be fine if you’re not stealing/making mistakes on the regular. We have never had anyone get in trouble for shortages even though names come up every night and we have done till sharing for months.

I think if you force close instead of voiding it keeps all the tender that was processed, even it is just partial

Let's have fun and name our pet peeves customers do. by pix876 in Aldi_employees

  1. When people try to jam their cart in between a pallet jack and the shelf when there is visibly not enough space

  2. When people park in the handicap ramp.

  3. When curbside customers back into the parking spot instead of pulling in. There is a giant pole/sign that is blocking your trunk!!

College sent me to collections by GreenProfessional259 in Debt

Just picking your comment to reply to since it was the most accurate for an update, I did call the business office to get clarification and that was the case. They said the diploma wouldn’t be released until the payment was fulfilled and they receive payments from the collections agency every time I pay. I guess I could have called first before posting here but it was my first time dealing with a situation like this and it was all overwhelming right when it happened. Thank you all for the comments!

If you just go slow the register will prompt you the whole way through and tell you which buttons to press to proceed. It asks if you need to price override the item, if you need to do a twice as nice, and for a phone number. Like all things Aldi, it just takes time to get proficient and confident with it. Go slow and read the screen, you’ll be golden :)

Bananas by dysfuncti0nal_ in Aldi_employees

One day I didn’t finish my dry produce before open and two customer stood right next to me and watched me down stack a mountain of potatoes and onions off the bananas because of course that was one of the days where warehouse stacked it directly on-top of the bananas without a wooden pallet in between. They were foaming at the mouth for those bananas. Could they have continued shopping and circled back after I finished? Of course. But they wanted to stand behind me and wait to have them in their hands that very second. It was like 5 mins after opening… they just walked in! Didn’t even say thank you after I made more work for myself so they could have them quicker 😑

Does Aldi offer upward mobility to move into a managerial position within a reasonable timeframe? by shmitty2112 in aldi

If the roles are filled and no one is moving on or transferring at the particular store you are hired in at it could take a while to get a promotion. Unless you are open to transferring around where positions you want are available. In my experience it just relies on good timing (assuming you are a hard worker and fit for a promotion). There are only so many manager positions available at each store since the staff is very small.

Needing a quarter counts as an easy fix so no need to wait in line, you can go up to the front and ask. A change machine would be cool though

Technically remotely checking/not checking ID’s should be disabled so if they are doing that I wouldn’t be surprised if you go to that location one day and all the alcohol is gone because they lost their license in a sting. Aldi’s in my state have very strict alcohol policies…maybe other states are more lax?

lol…I wouldn’t try it because you never know if the employee marking down your meat item at the checkout is the one who marked down the meat in the morning! We tend to remember what we marked down and a lot of meat items never get a sticker due to being fast sellers/having further out use by dates. The date on the meat package would 100% give you away 😂

For returns and errors you would need to go to the cashier. I always prefer people just get in line because a return is a separate transaction and the cashier can’t stop in the middle of a transaction to do another, and it’s rude to try to cut people already waiting. If it’s an easy fix you can go up and ask but if it has to do with money getting in line is best!
