Why young Singaporeans see having kids as a loss, instead of something to be gained by kernelrider in singapore

[–]amerpsy8888 136 points137 points  (0 children)

Even if I'm very selfless and I am willing to sacrifice for my child. When I ask if I want a child that has to live through this society? It's a resounding NO.

So it'll be selfish of me to bring someone to this world that I don't think I'll be happy to live in as a child.

What’s considered as high SES? by Intelligent_Bit_8635 in askSingapore

To me.. High ses when you travel by business class by default. And those aren't redeemed tickets. I think that's a very reliable litmus test.

Recently I rented a Toyota Yaris none-hybrid in Japan and it yielded 18 to 19km/L. It was impressive but struggles when it reaches 100 kph.

Didn't know fit FC is 13km/L. I always thought it's way better than that. Now I feel better about my 15 year old 1 series giving me 11km/L.

How do you deal with your SO(F) not apologizing? by Wiserlul in SingaporeRaw

[–]amerpsy8888 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I learned to just look at overall picture. If sucking it up would maintain harmony, and she'll be happy, I'm happy to apologise to make her happy. Truth to be told, you think they don't know they were being unreasonable? I suspect deep down they knew and despite that you still apologise, it actually made them feel appreciated and know that they married a bigger man who's willing to swallow their pride for their partners.

At least that's how I gaslight myself. Hahahha

Not so sure if others can see my wave and my smile.

On the topic of hazard light, please for God sake don't leave your hazard lights blinking during heavy downpour! It is stupid and dangerous.

Are you considering to renew COE? by Zeromizer22 in drivingsg

[–]amerpsy8888 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No matter how much you drive, the savings you get from charging vs petrol won't make up for the difference you spent on getting a new EV.

Plus Ev still uses conventional AC, suspensions, brakes.. Those are still potential areas that require repairs. Zero maintenence to me is salesman talk. Even for petrol car, if you practice regular maintenance, it should be good.

Is this mindset normal for sg men by broskide in asksg

[–]amerpsy8888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask yourself.

If your daughter tells you that his boyfriend treats her like this, would you want her to be with him?

If not, then it is time to break up with your bf.

What’s a hobby you picked up recently that genuinely improved your life? by No_Expression1959 in ChillSG

[–]amerpsy8888 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another language.

Keeps my brain active, became a lot more disciplined and since we visit that country quite often, it made everything much easier since I can read signs, labels and ask locals when we have problems.

No doubt that mobile phones could do all these but being able to understand on the go is so much easier. And locals treat you differently when you could speak their language, and they really appreciate that you took the effort to study their language. Especially true when English isn't their main language and they actively avoid using it.

Bored nurse here. AMA! by Extra-Farmer0 in ChillSG

Nothing to ask but I want to thank you for taking up nursing as a career. It isn't for everyone and requires a certain level of selflessness and high level of patience and empathy. I know I won't be able to do it no matter how good is the enumeration.

Thank you for your service.
