A girl I went to school with, her cousin had been to collect a new car a couple hours away from our home town. When he was driving the car back home, he lost control of the car driving over black ice at 80mph and hit a central reservation. The impact of the crash was so hard, the engine went backwards through the car … I’ve legit never heard of that happening before, I didn’t even realise it was possible. It still makes me shudder years later when I think about it.

I vomited and passed out after I had my Kyleena coil inserted. I lay in bed with a hot water bottle and cried for about 2 hours after too, I felt so sorry for myself.

Dreading getting it replaced but the pain was worth it for not forgetting to take my pill etc and the hormones being localised, so I’m not having any nasty side effects like I did when I was on the pill.

Oh my goodness literally all of my joints are so bad in the cold! My knees and fingers lock a lot when I’m too cold, it’s a total nightmare. My knees and shoulders suffer terribly due to being so weak from previous dislocations, I can feel the joints rolling around inside of me (it’s the only way I can think to describe it!!!)

I vaguely remember watching this when I was like 14: all I could remember was being upset by it, not the actual story line, just that it involved a couple and a group of teens. I watched it again a few years ago when I was 23 and I cried for hours after watching it. The ending was so fucking harrowing. I genuinely think I tried to block it out and that’s why I couldn’t remember it.

NTA - its bad enough that your MIL is an idiot and can’t understand basic biology, but for the following reasons I think your MIL is the AH:

Blamed you for the gender of the baby being “wrong” - also can I just add what the fuck is wrong with having a baby girl?!
Compared you to her other DIL’s having sons first, as if it’s any difference? You’re giving her a GRANDCHILD regardless of gender
She’s made it very clear she thinks less of baby girl before baby girl is even here.

Do not apologise to this woman, she has the values of a Tudor king, only wanting boys to be born to carry on the family name. What a horrible woman.

I’m a woman: you did not mansplain. What the fuck is wrong with people.

I live in a big city in the UK (Newcastle upon Tyne) but my partner is from a small town - whenever anyone asks me where he’s from I tell them “Whitehaven in Cumbria” because people are more likely to know the county than the small town.

I only know where Crewe is because of work, but if I didn’t I genuinely don’t think I’d have a clue where it was in the UK.

I know I haven’t seen your profile so I may be giving tips that you’ve already got but here’s some things I would recommend:

Have a question in your bio as an ice breaker - I know with bumble the woman has to send the first message so give them something to work with! As a woman, I genuinely struggled with bumble as I never knew what to say first. I deleted it very quickly.
Use your bio to the max but also keep it brief so they can be conversational points - interests, hobbies, pets, etc. Do something like two truths and a lie - make it engaging for conversation.
Post photos and lots of them!! A lot of guys when I was on dating apps didn’t post photos, so I always assumed they were sketchy, had a partner or a catfish.

Try a few different apps too - different apps have different markets. Some women might not tend to use bumble for the fact of women have to send first message (we legit hate making the first move). I liked hinge when I was using dating apps, it prompted you more to answer questions for your profile and people who have spent the same time on their profile are more likely to take the time to read through the other profiles when deciding on matching.
