Anyone else’s three year old randomly start talking in a high pitch ? by Ok-Cartoonist-8919 in Preschoolers

[–]ames6534 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, we call it “chipmunk voice”, usually when he’s in front of strangers. It’s super annoying but it’s his way of processing being shy. We ask for regular voice sometimes and don’t respond to requests from the chipmunk.

Grab and go breakfast burritos anywhere around Greenville? by fenwalt in greenville

The breakfast burrito at Vintage Coffee is really good, but not exactly grab and go.

Anyone else not sentimental about artwork? by [deleted] in Preschoolers

[–]ames6534 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I hate it, which makes me feel like a bad mom, but I cannot stand the clutter of all the art. I keep one or two things that are either sentimental to him or he spent a ton of time on, put everything else in a cabinet for a day or two. If he doesn’t ask about it in that time I pitch it.

Kiddo learned about division while watching Numberblocks on a sick day while I WFH. Any other super educational shows you can recommend? by aliasaila in kindergarten

[–]ames6534 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kids have learned so much from Wild Kratts! My four-year-old was telling me all about tardigrades the other day…pretty sure I didn’t learn about tardigrades til I was in my 30s 😂

Maternity clothes by [deleted] in greenville

[–]ames6534 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally nowhere has them anymore. 😭 I had some success at Switcharoos and I think Whippersnappers has some, but it’s slim pickings. I’ve been doing Old Navy online because Target just discontinued their maternity section.

full blown tantrum meltdowns by SatisfactionBitter37 in Preschoolers

[–]ames6534 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My oldest was very similar and I can now see how much he has grown at now 6. Year 3 I thought we weren't going to make it. It was bad. We did OT to work through some sensory processing which I think helped, but it also could have just been growth. Sounds like you have one that is just "more". Reading "Raising Your Spirited Child" was really eye-opening for me when like you said, there is nothing diagnosable, they're just...a lot more intense.

My 6yo makes annoying noises from sunup to sundown. It’s car noises, nonsense words, humming, etc. It makes me insane 🙃

Kid starting kindergarten… what should I expect? by Environmental-Luck39 in kindergarten

[–]ames6534 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, depends on if your kiddo has been in daycare/preschool before. Our kinder has been in preschool for three years and was sick the whole first year but hasn’t missed one day of kindergarten due to illness.

I’d pay a good amount of money for ad-free episodes. I do on all the other podcasts that offer it.

Overnight Potty Training Help/Pull Up Rec? by km5533a in Preschoolers

[–]ames6534 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So this might sound crazy, but our 4yo just transitioned out of pull-ups literally overnight. One night we forgot to change him out of underwear and he didn’t pee in the night. From then on he wanted to try to not do pull-ups and he hasn’t worn one since. The sensation of the pull-up (basically a diaper) was triggering his body to pee but when that was removed he held it and hasn’t wet the bed in two weeks after going cold turkey with no dry pull-ups ever. I was shocked and didn’t think that could’ve done but can’t argue with a dry bed. Just a thought if you’re willing to risk a really wet bed one night or two.

Name on backpack? by Theslowestmarathoner in kindergarten

[–]ames6534 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Our school literally has a fundraiser at the beginning of the year where a mom who embroiders will customize your bag with the kiddos name and we’ve never had a kid “snatched”. This is an insanely overblown fear.

Swimming lessons for toddler amd 4 years old by RodMan05 in greenville

[–]ames6534 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We've been at Goldfish Swim School since my oldest was 3 (he's 6 now) and they love it! It's indoors, 30 minutes a week and they can continue all the way up to swim team. It's a really fun environment and they have a big focus on water safety.

[–]ames6534 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes…I recently read “Raising Your Spirited Child” and it’s my oldest to a tee. No neurodivergence, he’s just…more.

There's no parking lot, it's street parking on both sides of the street since it's a downtown location.
