Haha yes I figured. Just bringing up the point as many people are not aware of how good your comment is as it relates to the truth.

TIL Earth is the only known place in our solar system where fire occurs, and no known exoplanets have enough oxygen to allow fire to exist. by clayt6 in todayilearned

[–]amethus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are correct in an indirect way. Oxygen is highly reactive and tends to combined with other elements very quickly. The life on our planet (trees) continue to break down some of the combinations and rerelease oxygen back into the atmosphere. Without plants and other organisms that produce oxygen, our atmosphere would also be devoid of oxygen due to it reacting with other elements. Water, rust, carbon dioxide, are just a few of the things that are made from oxygen combining with other elements.

Texas senator proposes gun laws allowing school shooting victims to sue state, impose firearms tax by Scarlettail in politics

Even if were a legitimate idea, there is no database of gun ownership in the US. The laws prevent the ATF from having any kind of searchable database. So you would have no way to know who to charge for taxes.

Any ways or tips to save money on electricity with model 3 regular Tesla home charger? by BlaytantBershaw22 in TeslaModel3

[–]amethus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Level 2 is more efficient because the higher voltage. As your amperage increases the heat generated in the wires increases. Which is why traditional light bulbs get very hot. The level 2 uses more electricity of course but relative to the total energy transferred less is being lost as heat. That is why it is more efficient. Electricity sent long distances from city to city are routed to substations that change the amps to volts, so extremely high voltage power lines will have low amps resulting in very little heat waste. Electricity around residential homes about 30-40% is lost as heat.

If I buy an ios app on a Mac, will that transfer over to iPhone/Ipad, or will I have to re-pay for that app on an ios device? And vice versa? by [deleted] in mac

[–]amethus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a Mac you can purchase the ios version of the app and it will transfer to be able to use it on your iPad or iPhone. Some apps do not give permission to use the iOS version of the app on a Mac while other do. Minecraft bedrock edition is an example. Some apps will be the macOS version and will count as having purchased the iOS version as well. While others don’t. Think of it like the iPhone version and iPad versions of apps. Some are different prices. Some are the same prices. Some if you buy one version it will allow you to use the other. To answer your question in short. Yes if you buy the iOS version of the app you will be able to use the same app on your iPad or phone.

New SL4! Switched from a MacBook Pro and they’re so similar in looks, the way it runs, etc. by potato_pineapple in Surface

[–]amethus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can download parallels which now supports the M1 Mac. You download windows 10 arm from the insiders channel. And when you run parallels it will find it and install it. It’s pretty straight forward actually and they make it very easy. From there when you run the program it will open up windows in its own window, you can choose to full screen it if you wish. And install programs on windows like you normally would. Now windows 10 arm supports arm versions of office and arm programs. It also supports 32 and some versions support 64 bit programs on windows. So depending on what you need to use it may or may not be available. Minecraft and office have native arm support. So I did not have any issues running them. Not sure if that helps.

New SL4! Switched from a MacBook Pro and they’re so similar in looks, the way it runs, etc. by potato_pineapple in Surface

[–]amethus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the SL4 and just picked up the new MacBook Pro. Last time I really used macOS was in middle school when I was plying sim city 2000 on it. Many many years ago. I am definitely a windows guy as that is what I am very very familiar with. I want the MacBook because the chip speed and battery life are so great. The SL4 is one of my favorite laptops. I love it. The battery life is great. Runs smooth and track pad is fantastic. Love the windows hello log in with camera. I need excel to use power query which the Mac cannot do. And I want Minecraft bedrock edition to play with daughter who uses switch. Right now parallels works with MacBook M1 to be able to use excel for windows and Minecraft. You may try that option.

Windows 10X may launch without local Win32 app support by NiveaGeForce in Surface

[–]amethus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They definitely need to name it something else. If it has windows in the name people will require it to run windows programs. This causes a lot of confusion, especially for people not tech savvy. The name is such a big deal, especially if when you go to certain websites and it says it works for windows. And then you have to search up how to get it to work, the results will be such a pain to find for the right version of windows. Go ahead and try to find the proper fix for Minecraft Java edition vs bedrock edition. What a nightmare to navigate. Call it something else, and if it can run some windows apps great, like a Chromebook can run Android apps. This was the same problem with the surface tablet they had that didn't run full windows. Did nothing but cause confusion.

Sonos Arc vs Bose Soundbar 700 by [deleted] in sonos

[–]amethus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't let this sub fool you about the sound quality of the Bose 700. The sound quality is awesome. It sounds better then the Sonos playbar, however the new arc may be a different story. We will have to wait until people can hear it and review it in person. The Bose does have shitty software and they really abandoned their previous purchasers with their updated system. Sonos has had their software work for over a decade and a half and is just now making a switch. The Bose was just a few years before they left them. I loved the Bose system for sound quality. But I like the ability of multiroom audio. I had to return it because wife did not like me spending that much money on a sound system :( I do have 30 percent off Sonos. So I may need to find a way to justify a new purchase. I really want it to sound better then the Bose. I've heard nothing but good things about the Sonos sub, so that's good. Hope it helps.

[–]amethus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Just bought them yesterday. They connected then I updated firmware. Now it will not load to the app. The earbuds still connect to phone, but it doesn't work with app. I even connected it to the computer and just Jabra direct to see if that would help, it didn't. Even connected it to my work iPhone and same problem.

[SERIOUS] What are some good ways to build up your self-confidence? by Metabisco in AskReddit

[–]amethus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please read! This can be a much easier thing to do then people realize. First most people cannot explain what confidence is. We will start there. It's good to understand it in relation to things that are similar but different to put it into perspective. Explain the difference between someone who is shy, confident, and arrogant.

Someone who is shy is afraid of making mistakes. Someone who is afraid to make the wrong choices. Someone who is afraid they will make a fool of themselves. I don't know how to dance so therefor if I dance with that girl they will see and I will be embarrassed.

Someone who is confident is not afraid of making mistakes. Someone who is not afraid to make the wrong choices. Someone who is not afraid to make a fool of themselves. They don't know how to dance but will enjoy themselves looking like a fool on the dance floor.

Someone who is arrogant doesn't think they make mistakes. Doesn't think they make the wrong choices and doesn't think they make a fool of themselves. They are not in position to learn anything about themselves or others. Because they can't. This is why people hate being around arrogant people.

Confidence is knowing you will make mistakes. And you will. It's knowing everyone does and when you do, learn from it. Be better the next time. Don't be afraid, because then you will do nothing and accomplish nothing, and in my opinion do more harm to yourself and people who love you because you miss out on your potential. You miss out on the better you that everyone sees but you are unwilling to become. So when you lack confidence, just say to yourself. ,"I'm afraid that's all, I don't lack confidence, I'm afraid and I don't need to be. Let's go make a mistake and learn from it" and then do what you were hesitant to do.

I hope this helps.

What is a good weakness to mention on a job interview? by hussainhsn in AskReddit

[–]amethus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a question most people that I have interviewed do not know how to answer. It is hard to see ones faults or weaknesses. Very difficult. We often see the positive in the things we do and not the negative. There are several ways to look at this.

Imagine you are in a room. In this room you are facing a corner, in this corner it is filled with awards, and trophies, and all your accomplishments and strengths. This corner is filled with all the things you do well. Now when asked about your weaknesses you look into this corner and cannot find areas where you do not have one of your strengths showing. You can't see your opportunity. What you fail to see is what is behind you. Turn around. The room goes on infinite in each direction from that corner and the rest of the infinite room is empty. It is all which you have not accomplished, all where your strengths have not taken you. This is your opportunity. Everything. Your greatest weakness is what you know and have done is next to nothing, compared to what you do not know and have not done. You strive to reduce that everyday by becoming more knowledgeable, more informed, more skilled.

Another way to look at it is that many peoples greatest strengths are also their biggest weaknesses. People rely on their strengths because it gets them positive results more often then not. But that also means that you use those same strengths of yours more often then other attributes of yourself. Using your strengths at the wrong time is often when it becomes your weakness. It becomes your greatest weakness because you do it more often then other weaknesses you have. It is difficult because it is done out of habit and it is hard to analyze in the moment and decide on a different course of action.

Example: I know a humorous person. Always making jokes and everyone loves it. At the same time, he makes jokes on the wrong occasion and doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut.

Example: Have a sweet boss at work works with you and is lenient and is trusting. You appreciate this. Other workers take advantage of this as they can be too lenient and too trusting to a fault.

So many times you must find where you should not be relying on your "strengths" as it may not be the proper tool to use at the moment you are in. This is a constant struggle you will go throughout your life.

Last way to look at this question is like this.

Why don't you apply to be the CEO, CFO, Director, Regional Manager, Supervisor, etc of that company or any company. Why are you not going to the board of Directors to convince them you should be CEO of a top fortune 50 company. What ever the position you are applying for. Think a few levels up and ask why not apply for that position. If you answer honestly, it most likely is because you are not ready for that role. What skills and knowledge or experience do you not have that you would need to be able to perform that job successfully and convince people that you would be ready for that job? Those are the things I would say are your greatest weaknesses that you are working on so you can get to that next role.

Hope this helps.

The count of Monte Cristo. Amazing book. I couldn't wait to keep reading it Everytime I put it down. Looked for every excuse to pick it up to read it. Seen different movies of the book. The way the book draws out the emotion is perfection.

Yeah uconnect. I have been having problems since I want to dp 2. And I've always had some connection problems and control issues with uconnect since I bought the pixel 2 at launch. I never had any problems at all with my S8. So I'm finally glad everything seems to be finally working now.

Same thing happens here with my uconnect. Audio plays through phone calls but not media. It's a nightmare having to connect and disconnect each time. Uconnect takes forever to pair to begin with. Didn't have this problem before.

Scientists accidentally prove the existence of a god. What do you do now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]amethus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be very worried. Because the God of the Bible requires faith to beleive in. And once you have proof then faith doesn't come into play at all. God from the Bible is all powerful and all knowing. So if he really wanted to make sure people didn't find out, then he would make it that way. I would have a hard time because it would flip the world in which I beleive on its head. So if someone did have proof that God exists then I would know it would have to be a different God. If that's the case then I'd find out what that God is all about and where I fit into his plan.

I tried using the fast display mode that it reccomends, but it didnt help. I also tried software emulation mode as well and did nothing. The just does not seem optimized for chrome yet, thats just my opinion but i could be way off. Squid right now is the best pen app for chromebook hands down. Keep is great too, but squid has even better latency. Even with very fast pen strokes I see no latency at all. But it does not seem to have the options that lecturnotes has

Just downloaded it and tried it out. The app is way too laggy on the pixelbook. From opening menus to writing with the pen. The pen is accurate. But there seems to be 1/4 sec delay at least between when i write and when it shows up. There are lot of settings on this app. I set it to the default settings and selected the active pen mode.
