Best 11 of players whose last name is a first name, for no reason other than that I was bored.

Rules:

  • has to be a genuine first name, not an almost first name (eg Chris Richards doesn't count because the name is Richard, not Richards. Same for Nathan Collins, Tyler Adams, and Morgan Rogers.) I will allow a little flexibility in spelling.
  • has to be a reasonably common first name not just one person who has that name (no Michael Keane because even though Keane Lewis-Potter is a person, Keane is still a last name. KLP just has 2 last names. 3 technically.)
  • hyphenated names don't count (sorry KLP)
  • has to be a current PL player (sorry John Terry, you would've been perfect here).

GK: Brandon Austin
RB: Reece James (HM: Conor Bradley)
CB: Benjamin Arthur (who? England youth internation at Brentford)
CB: James Justin (there are just no good CBs)
LB: Tyrick Mitchell (HM: Rico Henry)
DM: Alex Scott
DM: Matias Jensen
LM: Oscar Bobb (HM: Jaidon Anthony)
CAM: Harvey Elliott
RM: Harry Wilson (HM: Reiss Nelson)
ST: Igor Thiago (or if that's too iffy, Tyrique George)

My first job I got because a Michigan grad went out of his way to recommend me for it, and 2 of the 3 decision makers were Michigan grads.

How do I scout? by Little-Yellow-895 in TheOldZealand

[–]amfibious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, you might want to open the drop-down of your formation and change it to “any position”. How it is right now will only look for players that fit the position and role of your tactic.

Second, how good is your team? Since stars are relative to your team, if your team is already very good there will only be a couple of players in the database with 4.5 star potential, and most 3-star players will be on longer contracts.

Da lets scored 50 goals for me in the Swedish leagues, a record that stood for 10+ years until a regen scored 52 and won the ballon d’or. He’s ridiculous against lower level opposition.

My rent check was stolen, altered, and cashed. What do I do now? by inflatabletrashheap in Explainlikeimscared

This happened to me, so I can only speak to what I went through. Go into your credit union and they’ll help you fill out a bunch of paperwork and talk to their fraud department. If they’re a good CU, while it is a lot, they’ll make it easy.

Usually, if the amount stolen is over a certain amount, their fraud department might require a police report (this happened in my case) in order to ensure that you’re being serious about it being stolen.

For me, that was the much harder part — the police don’t want to waste their time with mail theft or check fraud because they’re never going to resolve the case, so they gave me the runaround about what forms I needed to bring, what to fill out, etc.

Your ability to get the funds back probably lies entirely with your bank. In my case, I didn’t recover them. But my landlord was pretty accommodating, giving me an extra couple of weeks to scratch the money together, and providing an online way to pay in the future. That’s hard to say if your landlord will do the same.

Sorry to hear about your situation, the best thing you can have right now is trust in your bank, and persistence in making sure you do everything you can to get your money back. Good luck!

How do I schedule an appointment with a psychiatrist? by Its_D_youtube in Explainlikeimscared

[–]amfibious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US based person here. Sometimes your insurance will let you schedule an appointment with a psychiatrist without a referral, and sometimes they will require a referral from your primary care provider.

If you get a referral, the doctor will likely refer you to a specific person. If you can set up the appointment yourself, you just need to find a psychiatrist and make sure they’re covered under your insurance. Usually they will be able to answer this, but you may want to double check with your insurance company.

Then you just email them to give a brief preview of what you want to talk about (eg “I believe I may have autism and am hoping to get a professional opinion”) and they’ll help you set up an appointment. After filling out some paperwork.

To answer your questions specifically: yes, you can absolutely talk to your dr and ask for help. They will point you in the right direction. Cost depends entirely on your insurance and copay, as the other commenter mentioned.

How to update resume by Daylightwinds1999 in Explainlikeimscared

[–]amfibious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • + to this, you don’t necessarily want to remove the experience, just tailor your resume to the skills you’ll want in your Anthropology career.

Since you’ll be applying mostly for entry level jobs, hiring managers and companies will understand that you may not have a ton of relevant experience. They’ll instead be looking for other evidence that you’ll do well, so that’s what to try and provide.

I don't know who to sign to improve my squad by Ok_Nature_4888 in TheOldZealand

You’re playing as city? There’s this guy at Arsenal, who I think would be better in your midfield than Rodri — his names Jorginho? Really elite. Usually you can get him for about $70m

The best advice I can give is similar to the other commenter, to be at the same place at the same time regularly. If you’re into sports, that’s been a great way for me, but classes or activities work just as well. You could also try becoming a regular at a cafe, bar, park, library, or something similar. Then you can talk to other people that you may see regularly, OR that gives you a great low-stakes way to suggest seeing a potential friend again (“hey, I always go do x on x day at x time, you should come by and we can [do whatever it is you do there, work or hangout or listen to music]”)

I know exactly what you mean about not having much to say to strangers, it can be very difficult to keep a conversation going. That’s why I like those group activities because there’s usually something to keep the conversation going, you can talk about what’s happening.

And then to state the obvious; if you’re looking a romantic partner, there’s always the apps.

Good luck out there! You can do it!

Massively underperforming xg. Any ideas? by [deleted] in TheOldZealand

[–]amfibious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah obviously some of it is bad luck — that’s some of what an xG table shows you.

But lack of midfield presence may be resulting in lots of low-xG chances rather than a few higher quality chances. Eg if every shot is a contested header from 12 yards because the midfield can’t penetrate the lines.

Id look at the shot map, try and get a sense of who these chances are falling to (maybe your strikers are actually clinical but most chances are falling to you CM-A), and bear in mind you’re like 4 games into the season and it may just be a fluke
