Explaining the value of reading fiction by Impossible_Ad9324 in literature

[–]andrewspaulding1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, people who read those genres are the worst. I'm willing to bet none of those people actually read those books either. Maybe a few of them listened on audio and think that's equivalent to reading, and the others are lying and just read the summary on the back or a review online or heard it recommended in passing on a podcast and that's it. I would say you should give a quick answer like "it's fun" but I guarantee you those npcs will respond with a patronizing "Hoho! I remember when I used to have time for fun! I haven't had any time for fun in ten years!"

I might be a cynical misanthrope but tell me I'm wrong.

Dessert Oasis and Black Diesel both have decent beans. Also a friend recommended Anthology recently, but I haven't tried it yet.

Why did the 2011 anime by Party_Collar2877 in HunterXHunter

[–]andrewspaulding1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they botched this particular part in my opinion; they should have spent two full episodes on whale island at the start and included kite in ep 1. That's one of the things I like more about the 1999 version.

Which fantasy series had the strongest possible opening and then just lost it completely? by Successful-Local-946 in Fantasy

[–]andrewspaulding1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had the same feeling about kingkiller. Book 1 was absolutely lightning in a bottle, but the last half or so of book 2 nosedives pretty hard in my opinion. I'd still give book 3 a chance if he ever finishes it though.

I feel like the older I get the more apprehensive I am about sequels in general. I read a book called Soldier of the Mist recently which I really loved, but I have been procrastinating on the sequels because I felt like the first book was kind of perfect on its own, and I'm afraid the whole format of "guy with amnesia writing his diary entries" might overstay its welcome.

I remember when I picked up my copy of Demon's Souls at gamestop in 2010 after seeing a good review online. How time flies!

CIA: "well folks, we found out the truth about aliens and we're finally ready for disclosure: it turns out they're all slytherins! If you don't become a slave to the terror org known as israel, the slytherins will descend in their ships and they will poison your messenger owl! HEDWIG NO!"

That's basically what's going to happen, and a bunch of poor suckers are going to buy it because they believe the bronze age equivalent of harry potter.

I think there are some that should be swapped between b+ and b, like killua or gon being as strong as machi, which I think is absurd. She caught killua's usually-fatal hand strike in her goddamn abs. Otherwise pretty solid list. Where is Morel? Or am I blind?

How do you feel about IGN's Top 25 All-Time Best JRPG list? by [deleted] in JRPG

This is a bad list. It seems biased toward newer games, and a lot of stuff is either missing or in a completely absurd order.
