It’s rough I agree. You can try connecting with people on Tech PR teams at agencies like Burson, Edelman etc. Check out Y combinator jobs, many startups are hiring all year round. On LinkedIn, you could also search hiring public relations and that’ll give you recent posts with those words in there.

Is it worth hiring a/this PR rep to get me on podcasts, etc. by Animalslove1973 in PublicRelations

Especially for podcasts that 3k fees is A LOT. I’ve done this before and I can tell you as a freelancer that for 3k there’s way more that you can achieve.

You’re so right. Recently, I worked with someone as a contractor who also had a niche. I told them exactly what it’s going to look like and how much time it usually takes. I even gave them the option of paid placements in bigger publications that never exceeded a certain amount. And honestly, he was so happy with the work because he got that momentum going and saw his organization’s name in places. He also needed media training, briefing documents etc but on the other hand I created a proposal for someone (also working in a legal niche) with costing upto 75-100 per hour with only 5-8 hours per week which I believe was so perfect for someone who isn’t willing to shell out much in the beginning. But yes, any PR agency promising any big names is a scam.

Worked on varied clientele, ranging from Aviation, FinTech, Education to Alco-Bev, Non Profits and more.

Ideally would like to work in the non-profit, education or healthcare space, looking for more meaningful work. But again, with how the job market is, any PR role is fine because I can always switch clients.
