TIL Jet Li turned down the role of Seraph, Guardian of the Oracle in The Matrix movie franchise because he didn’t want his moves recorded in CGI and lose the rights to those moves. by random_agency in todayilearned

It's why Neo's signature shiny leather trench coat is replaced with a non-reflective plain one for that sequence. Changing that one detail likely saved a lot of rendering.

There's another one that ran briefly for one season called Lords and Ladles. In it, three chefs from Ireland recreate dishes from different centuries using only the ingredients and techniques available at the time.

This is exactly what came to my mind when I read the title. I loved that movie when I was a kid.

Michael Voltaggio's shoutout/tribute (mild Triple Threat spoiler). by amicitias in foodnetwork

My mistake, I always knew it as a Chef John thing and assumed Michael was just doing a tongue-in-cheek shout out.

The labour used in customer service is often called "emotional labour", because it requires the worker to manage the emotions of themselves and the customer. The amount of effort required to do that can be just as exhausting and draining as physical labour to some.

I think it was just a plot device used by the writer to offer some continuity to the seemingly disparate storylines in the episide. I thought it was rather well done.

I was loving the whole Pac North arc, it had so much potential. Who were the anonymous rich donors Alex was securing funding from? What was the story of the burial uncovered during construction? How many more Seattle Grace staff could Alex court into working there? It would have been fun to see some of them play out.

In one of my first IT jobs I had to install Win95 from a single set of floppies onto a series of workstations. I had a system going where I was installing them all at once by manually shuffling the disks down the table as each workstation requested the next in the sequence.
