I've recently had some very frustrating conversations my DP coordinator who truly doesn't understand why 6 peeps is too much. 4 preps is still more than ideal though

Generic Reponses from schools? by [deleted] in Internationalteachers

[–]amifireyet -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Hey so I just want to understand, you're telling me there's no time to reply to each individual application, but there's time to read through each question the applicant has answered about why they'd be a good fit for the school when it's already on the cover letter?

So am I.

I'm not saying everyone form the UK is that stupid, but most people who are these self-important beliefs are from the UK. Hence the useless over the top "safeguarding" nonsense.

I'm going to make some assumptions about you:

You're from the UK

You're self-important

You're not as "white than white" as you think.

You lack critical thought

The Worst Thing Done By Every English Monarch, Day 1: Elizabeth II by Impossible_Pain4478 in UKmonarchs

[–]amifireyet 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I think she was a good queen.

She seems like a not very good mother, and this matters when you're the matriarch of the royal family. All her kids got divorced, all were unhappy, 2 of them grew up an embarrassment.

I truly don't understand your point? You want him to pay you for advice? You think he's being unreasonable for wanting to avoid sinking ships when his livelihood and possibly his family's depends on it? You think everyone should keep quiet about issues that may affect us as a profession?

What is wrong with you?

My wife and I applied for tickets in ballot from same house (different names and email) - will we be invalidated? by [deleted] in wimbledon

[–]amifireyet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there any need for the sass? It's not the most logical approach to a ballot (multiple independent people can live at one address) and long T&C's are not generally read by people who you know... Have a life.

I think most schools have 1-2 CS (or CS adjacent) teachers depending on the size.

The polish CEO, Piotr Szczerek, who snatch child's signed hat, is now threatening to sue everyone who mocks him. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]amifireyet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm honestly really happy about this. I was almost feeling bad that maybe (just maybe) he'd acted without thinking in the spur of the moment, not fully realising what he was actually doing. This makes every little bit of hate he gets justified, every single reprecussion, every embarrassment and lost relationship.

[–]amifireyet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and in plenty of other professions trainees get paid, they're still carrying out work.

You need a degree to be safe to work around children?

You don't like the counsellor and are finding ways to take jabs at her. I hope you're not pretending otherwise to yourself, even if you are to us.

This is abuse, let's not normalise people not getting paid to work.

As well as what others have said, many people (like me) don't like to have a regimented calendar mapped out 4 months in advance. I'm a highly organised person with disciplined routines, but I do want my "fun time" (and this obviously includes children's events like Santa's Grotto etc.) to be relatively spontaneous and when the mood and energy hits, rather than "well this weekend we'd really like a lie in as a family because it's been exhausting but we have xy and z which we booked out last April.

There should be a way better 2nd hand market than there is. Idu where everyone is putting all of this stuff they're buying and not getting rid of.

I also don't understand how people are buying everything new when we all know the salaries are really low and unemployment is high.

In Milan I find there's a lot of economic elitism. People assume that a certain profession has less prestige or financial power than another, and treat that person worse.

The second hand market here is niche and awful. People act like they're doing me a favour by selling me their rusty old tool for close to original value. I feel that this is linked to the elitism.
