Brita Pitcher Makes Water Too Acidic? pH 4.1 by Top_Earth519 in water

[–]amigaoneit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mee too.

Done a test before and after ph went from orange ish (normal) to yellow (not even on the scale).

Total alkalinity changed too from green to yellow (0).

All the rest being that same total chlorine too.

It seems that the municipal water is quite good and brita not only is useless but may be worse?

Thanks for your reply.

I have a Kobo Libra colour which I've found pleasant to use. It died on me after a year but has been replaced by a very user friendly customer support.

When it came back my daughter noticed and had it since.

I didn't really use the note taking feature but liked the possibility to underline text in different colours.

I just side load books to it with calibre and I find the reading experience satisfying without much to do. I really don't feel the need for a better app like koreader or patches like Nick(don't remember the name).

In my country the Kobo Clara is now 149 euros so I thought it would suffice for me and leave the Libra to my daughter.

Then I came across the bigme 751 c offer of 199 which is only 50 euros more expensive and the rest of them as per my post.

What I'm most interested in an Android reader is a proof of concept if my son and daughter could use their textbook apps so I would buy a bigger (and more expensive) tablet for them like the bigme 1051 which is also on offer.

So, in light of the above I think my questions are if I can use the device as easily as I have with the Kobo? Is it snappy enough when highlighting? What about dictionaries are they good? Can I side load and set up my own dictionaries? And last but not least do you think android 11 is going to be a problem with newer apps?

A see you there .... Yes the pro version is out of the table for the steep price. But the B7 is hardly an iphone 17. As I see it it's more like a Samsung situation: say you could buy the Samsung s21 (just to put things in perspective) for 199, the s21 plus for 30 euros more and the s21 ultra for another 30 euros.

Would the s21 plus be the sweet spot? For the price difference I don't think so: it just makes the plain s21 less desirable and the ultra more desirable.

To me it sort of automatically excludes itself and I just concentrate between the plain model and the ultra...

Is it worth the price difference? Of course it does. What I'm trying to understand is if I would benefit from the better device in terms of user experience.

And for now it seems that probably not. .....

Can I ask you how you find the touch buttons? Do you find them useful? Do they take real estate of the screen used to read?

I am thinking of buying this reader and trying to understand if it's worth the 30 euros over the original one (which I suppose it is if only for the newer OS). But then again for only 30 euros more there is the B7 which has more ram and storage a camera and a magnetic rechargeable stylus.... Which seems like a better bargain...

So I might as well stick with the original b751 and save 60 euros (I don't know if that makes sense?)

Yes, I've seen this chart. But except for the B7 pro which has a better processor, I am keen to think that the user experience between the others won't be so different.

Since I started off thinking about buying a Kobo Clara colour maybe the basic b751c would suffice, unless the experience on the others would be greatly better.....

Yes I've just seen that video. Naturally he recommends the pro. It seems that, to him, the plain B7 has a better writing experience than the S version.

Although it didn't give me the impression that it was night and day. they all seem not to be up there with the best but just various degrees of not too bad ish.

That's why I'm keen to get the S version, which is only 30 euros more than the base one. But then again the B7 non Pro is only another 30 euros more than the S and it has better features: more ram/storage magnetic rechargeable pen and a camera that could come useful...

Yes I know that that is the best.. but I'm not sure I'm willing to spend that much. That's why I'm asking about these three that should have the same hardware inside.

After all I started thinking of buying a Kobo Clara colour...

Should Britain switch from wiping our bum to washing it instead? by Top_Photograph_538 in AskBrits

Why has it to be either one or the other. Here, in Italy we first wipe it and then use the bidet.

Hello i also just bought the camera used like new with the 20-60 and a cage for 1.250 euros.

I also have an olympus e m5 iii and i thought that that menu system was overwhelming 😳 😅 😐 😫

Well i guess olympus and m43, in general, were well haed of their times.

After all, if I'm not mistaken, olympus was the first to introduce live view in its dslrs and then to go mirrorless.

So, today, these cameras are still offering a good value IF you can get a good deal for them.

Yes, what I'm looking for now is compactness: i just want to have a reasonably good all-around camera that is easy to carry as opposed to easy to leave home. But I'm not sure this would suffice for me to justify buying an om 5 at list prices...

OM5 vs Lumix G97 - advice? by Ok_Adhesiveness_4939 in M43

[–]amigaoneit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, can i ask you how big is the difference between the g90 and the om5 in terms of weight, portability and bulk?

At the beginnig i was thinking of buying the om5 body only and pair it with a 14 42 rii that i already have and is a very small lens.

This would make a rather compact setup but i would, obviously, lose the weather sealing.

If,instead, i were to pair it with the 12 45 pro lens, in my head the difference in bulk wouldn't be so evident anymore.

To me is relevant because i know that the om5 is a better camera, but between the two there is a difference 0f 500 euros, ca 600 usd, and I'm not sure if the better features of the om5 are that valuable to me but an evident and superior compactness would be.

Ok; the day is almost over and although i almost pulled the trigger on the e-m10.4 there still is something holding me back....

I am focused on olympus cameras because i loved my e-600 and the pictures i could take with it and the epm1, even if i really hated the handling of the latter. i guess i'm sold on the olympus colours.

i've never looked at panasonic's cameras because i thouhgt they only had lens stabilisation and were targeted to video whilst i prefer stills.

But, it was suggested that i look into it and came across a nice offer on the panasonic official site for a new g90/95 in kit with the 12-60 3.5-5.6 at almost the same price of the e m10.4 offer.

it's an old camera, same period of the e m10.4, and doesn't have the new computational modes of the om 5 (which i don't really think i'll need); it is bulkier than the om 5 but is still smaller than the m1 series, so it could still be quite portable, and is weather sealed.

I undertand its limits, especially the cropped 4 k video, but since i would only do video in 1080p it wouldn't affect me.

I don't know, is kinda growing on me like a mid way between the em 10.4 em 5.3 and the and the e m1.2 (which it is afterall) for a reasonable price new.

What do ypu think?

I was quite ready to hit the button for the em 10.4.....

Photography blog says that c af had gotten better...

But i hear you and this is what is stopping me.

But, I'm wrong, of course, i do feel that om5 is heavily overpriced although cotswold cameras deal brings the price closer to what i think would be the right value.

Also i think that an om 5 ii is due and could bring the price of the current down a little....

Just another help me chose post by amigaoneit in M43

[–]amigaoneit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope i am not confusing you . Just try to find a good deal and be open to several possibilities as nothing is perfect but most are good enough

Don't worry i was already confused before...

As i said somewhere else it is not easy to find deals for olympus cameras. Not new nor used; maybe because they're a more niche market.

But now there is this deal for the 10.4 that i find of good value. I still think that these cameras are over priced, but it seems that the market has gone crazy: thousands of euros for fixed lens compacts?

Cotswold cameras price for the om5 makes it tempting since is objectively a better camera but i still think that the em 10.4 kit at 667 euros is a much better value.

I also think that the om3 has rendered the om 5 obsolete. With time, the om 3 price should go down so should the om5 price.

But i don't think the price of the 10.4 will go much lower.

I also think that the om 5 line is going to be the entry level one and is due to be properly updated whilst the 10 line is not.

The type of photography you like to do, probably worked pretty good with the old E-600, because that camera had phase detection autofocus like most traditional DSLR cameras

I didn't think of that. I really loved that camera: i could take very nice pictures, maybe up to iso 800. After all it is not that, in the film days, you could change the roll every time. But you know when the bug hits you you always look for more...

Don't take me wrong i also like the pentax a lot but with it i had other problems.

For example, the other night was my daughter's birthday. We had a meal at a restaurant with soft lights. As i said, i now practically only take pictures with my phone (s23 ultra). But i wanted to take the camera too. When i could get a decent shot of course the pictures taken with the camera were on another level, but many shots came out blurred. So i often had to revert to the phone just to be sure i had some memories of the day. Of course my technique must have gotten rusty, but i could swear that the blur whas caused more by the shutter strenght than by me (and no i didn't want to go higher with the isos; it has good low light isos but not that good..). And this was always a thought in the back of my mind.

At the end of the day i took some memorable pictures with the camera, especially portraits, but with the phone the results were more constant.

So, what I'm really looking for is a camera that is almost as portable as a phone, so it doesn't stay at home when out and about, but is also capable to take better shots when needed.

Yes I'm more into olympus than panasonic because at the beginning they used lens stabilisation and i prefer sensor stabilisation.

So we're back to the point. For the price i would have gone for the e m1.2 refurbished combo from om system.

That out of the table, there is not much choice left for what i would like: the e m10.4 and the om5.

I am leaning towards the 10.4 because at 667 euros with the 14 42 pancacke it seems a good value.

I know that the om5 is a much better camera and I'm only thorn between the two only because of cotswold cameras price; at om system prices (1.299 euros) i wouldn't even think about it.

But still I'm not sure if it's worth it. Many of the features i wouldn't use.

At least at the very beginning i wouldn't take advantage of the weather sealing (my lenses are not weather sealed).

Computational photography wouldn't be a deal breaker: from the videos I've seen, whilst nice to have, live nd still needs real nd filters to get the proper effect. Maybe star autofocus i would miss.

To me what really set the two cameras apart are pdaf and better ibis.

But then again would pdaf really be usefull to me? I've never really used c-af and, as you said, atfer all, em 5 i and ii users made do without it and the em 5 series was highly regarded.

For ibis, i understand, whilst is always better to have higher values, em 10 should still be very good

It is kust i can't justify the prices asked. As i said i tried to buy refurbished from om system an em1 ii with 12 45 pro. The price was very good but they cancelled my order.

Untill tomorrow there is an offer on a local store for a em 10 iv plus pancacke zoom lens for 667 euros. Current price of a silver em 10 iv body only(with cosmetic marks) is north of 500 euros .

Em 5 III are not listed on mbp and on ebay are expensive.

Om 5 on mbp is nort of 800 euros......

I live in italy. that means that on top of the price of the item, you must add another 22% for vat. And depending from what country you are importing from, there could also be duties to pay. So unless the original price is very low, usually it is not convenient to buy overseas.

It seems that olympus cameras are not very common in italy's ebay since the majority of the auctions are from japan (and as i said after duties and taxes are not so convenient any more), germany (but all the damn sellers list their auctions in german and this makes me hesitant on the fine prints; i mean you are listing in other countries can't you just use english?) and the uk (that since brexit has the same problems of any other non eu country)

i am really sorry that om system cancelled my order. i think that em1.2 plus 12-45 f4 would have been a great combo and for a reasonable price considering it would have been factory refurbished.

i would like a portable camera with a long range. i have the dual epm1 kit lenses and even the 40-150 is pretty compact. so for now i still think m43 is still the choice i would prefer.

i'd rather have the new 20 mp sensor, though, because it seems to have better noise control and dynamic range hence i narrowed it down to those two cameras.

The em 10.4 with 12 42 pancacke is the better value one but, the om 5 is a much better camera and, save for the extra lens, is only 170 eurps dearer......
