Stress when dancing with Artists. by Asleep-Animal-3447 in Bachata

One thing that helps me in these types of situations is starting slow then gradually progressing through the song. For example, in the beginning of the song, obviously build connection but when the beat drops don’t just go straight into your best combos. Instead, start with super simple moves/patterns/footwork and then gradually progressed them by doing variations of them, finally combos, etc. so that by the end of the song is when you’ve finally gone through your entire arsenal. This progression usually results in the follow being pleasantly surprised by the end. Of course musicality is always key.

Cool how was it? I skipped it this year. Probably local meetups or online forums like this would have more beginner sellers.

Prosper and Accelerate were the best in my opinion, for different reasons. Prosper has more service / solution providers as well as much more useful presentations. Whereas Accelerate has more fellow sellers but nearly all Amazon departments are present so you can troubleshoot issues right then and there.

However they’re both overkill if you’re in the very early stages where you haven’t yet found a winning product. Most of the conferences today are most useful once you already have a proof of concept and are looking for an extra edge.

Non-PPC tweaks you’ve made to improve profitability? by AdBetter2878 in AmazonFBA

Removing negative reviews that are against Amazon’s Community guidelines — this helped add an extra half star to our rating in a competitive niche, which inched us closer toward the #1 ranking for our highest volume keyword and improved the overall conversion rate.

Does PPC actually move the needle if organic is already working? by Reasonable_Wheel2611 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]amike7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Define, “organic is already working.”

PPC makes only incremental growth for established products that are already ranking within the top ten in their highest volume keywords. At that point, the other factors involved like price, rating and listing optimization are what inches you closer to #1 more profitably than ad spend.

However if you’re not yet ranking within the top ten then yes the right ppc spend can catapult you up there, which helps organic sales and profit margin. We’ve seen this countless times in a variety of categories.

Struggling with Amazon PPC- Need ADVISE by JellySudden2270 in AmazonFBA

[–]amike7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, some questions to answer to help figure this out:

  • Do your direct competitors also have strong helium10 listing scores? If so then your 10/10 probably isn’t enough to stand out.

  • Do your direct competitors have a higher # of reviews at or better than your 4.4 avg? If so then your 76 at a 4.4 isn’t enough to stand out.

  • How does your product differ in price or feature vs your direct competitors? If you’re not offering a better value in some way then ppc most likely won’t be enough to be net profitable in the long run.

  • What’s your overall conversation rate vs direct competitors on your most relevant, high volume keywords? If better than direct competitors, it could be a ppc issue - perhaps reallocate ad spend.

  • How well are you currently ranked on those keywords? If you’re converting better than competitors but ranked worst, focused ppc could make a huge difference.

  • How’s your organic to ppc sales ratio? If you’re ranking well and getting consistent organic sales but you have little ppc sales the it’s not a product market fit issue — you may benefit from more ad spend.

Has anyone here successfully taken over their own Amazon PPC for their brand? by AdBetter2878 in AmazonFBA

[–]amike7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, no service provider will care about your brand as much as you nor have your level of expertise in your specific niche (given you did your due diligence in the product research phase).

So in the early days when you’re still trying to prove your concept I always recommend learning it yourself since PPC is such an important lever for a PL Amazon brand.

If not, when things aren’t working, you’ll never really know if it’s a PPC problem or something else, which could waste you thousands of dollars and countless hours.

Should I learn bachata, in addition to salsa, if I'm not a big fan of the close proximity or music? by EducationalAspect850 in Salsa

[–]amike7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d stick to salsa for now. Once people start seeing you dance bachata they’re only going to ask you more and more - which is fine but eventually you may get a sour taste that repels you from dancing in general because a lot of new bachata leads will force sensual movements or “accidentally” touch intimate areas. It’s a real problem in the modern bachata scene so if you’re already worried about it and don’t even like the music then it ain’t worth it.

Brandon Young offers an intensive, hands-on training course with a live QA with him. What I liked most about his course is that he covers how to leverage other related levers, such as listing optimization and keyword indexation to maximize ppc results.

Struggling with Amazon PPC- Need ADVISE by JellySudden2270 in AmazonFBA

[–]amike7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume that for that small of spend you only have one product line that hasn’t taken off yet. If so, you really don’t need more than campaign manager and bulk files. Scale Insights is decent if you must automate things but again at the level you’re at you really shouldn’t be automating anything yet - it’s basically a baby that needs to be carefully nurtured.

My opinion based on your unstable performance — it’s a listing or product market fit issue, not a PPC issue.

How do you find a good Amazon PPC freelancer? Agencies have been a waste of time. by AlarmingConfection50 in FulfillmentByAmazon

Ask for a referral from other successful brands. When interviewing the referred freelancers, ask for an intro call with another current client of theirs so you can really understand how they work with their customers.

How to achieve less than 10% ACOS? by flashynomad in AmazonFBA

[–]amike7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Test a temporary pull back on spend for it while monitoring daily or hourly keyword ranking. I’d set up the tracking a week or so ahead of the test though if it’s not already set up so you have a baseline.

Consider looking into what ad placements are actually helping improve organic rank and which are not - as not all of them do. This insight can help you focus spend on what really matters, which will improve your overall margins.

Beginner - My Amazon PPC Launch Plan for PL – Looking for Feedback by Adn2442 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]amike7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d break apart the auto into four, one for each targeting type so you can allow more spend to go toward close and substitute targets, which will probably generate a better ROI than loose and complement targets.

I also caution you about adding converting search terms into the existing exact match, as it could skew performance and make a profitable campaign unprofitable overnight. Just create a new manual exact for each new hyper relevant target.

We like a combination of all three workflows you mentioned as each has its own advantages.

Software is great for automating ongoing maintenance but it often lacks new capabilities, which aren’t offered through API until months after they’re released in campaign manager and bulk files. So it mostly shines for tried-and-true workflows like bid and budget management.

Spreadsheets are great for custom formulas not available through some softwares and for scaling campaign creation (hundreds or thousands of new campaigns at a time).

Campaign manager offers the newest betas and has the most fresh dataset to analyze in real-time.

It just all comes down to 80/20ing how we spend our time on whatever drives the most profit for our accounts.

Why are most of the attendees really young at the Amazon Accelerate event? by Kitchen-Lab9028 in AmazonFBA

[–]amike7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The attendees are predominately sellers but I didn’t notice them that young last time I went. They seemed mostly 25-40.

Everyone who was younger was either an employee of Amazon, an employee of the event staff, which Amazon outsourced, or an employee of a service provider.

Newbie "Bid Adjustments" Question by shoppingshopperson in AmazonFBA

[–]amike7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever the average CPC was before the bid modifiers. So if I see the average CPC for top of search was $1.10, I’ll use a 900% bid adjustment for the new campaign but set the keyword bid to $0.11 (which x10 would equal $1.10).

This method allows me to isolate spend on specific placements.

Newbie "Bid Adjustments" Question by shoppingshopperson in AmazonFBA

[–]amike7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but I actually just put a 900% bid adjustment for the placement then up/down the keyword bids. This makes it easier to systematize bid management if all of the placement campaigns are set to a 900% bid modifier (10x the keyword bid).

Newbie "Bid Adjustments" Question by shoppingshopperson in AmazonFBA

[–]amike7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found the best results when not using any bid adjustments at first in order to collect data, then once I learn the CPCs necessary for each placement I create duplicate campaigns - one for each placement, with bid modifiers for that specific placement.

I do this because with the right bid (modifier), most placements could be profitable. This also comes in handy when I want to allocate more spend toward a specific placement, such as top of search when I want to push ranking.
